Dear Al Roker and NBC,

I was deeply saddened by the commercial advertisement which I saw for the television show, "Animal Practice" last night on August 3, 2012. It was meant to be funny; however, it was not. It was an offensive, discriminatory, racist statement regarding the African-American gymnastics winner, Gabby Douglas, who had just won a gold medal for the United States of America.
What a terrible disservice NBC has done to billions of people of color who aspire to do great things in their lives! Has NBC learned nothing from our ugly past? We must endeavor to move forward, not backwards. The Bible teaches us in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Let us strive for peace and not evil. Together, we can build a brighter future for the next generation. NBC, you owe Miss Douglas an apology which needs to be posted in major newspapers, in major magazines, on major internet sites, on major radio stations, on all television networks covering the Olympics....
We must not be judged "by the color of (our) skin but by the content of (our) character." NBC, you should be ashamed! Take the commercial off the air; destroy it.
Let us work toward brotherhood, fellowship, love, and peace.
