We have all viewed the famous horror movies of our time, and partaken in a little halloween tomfoolery in our youth. Maybe some a little later in life. As adults we have put all of that behind us now at least those of us that have grown up... A little humor there.
I sometimes find myself falling into an old habit, that of practical jokes. They have been a thorn in my side since I was very small. It gives me such a thrill to be a little shall I say "devilish." That is not a word that is normally associated with Christians.
However, who ever said that Christians can not have a little fun at a friends expense. I've been going to one church or another for most of my life, and I never heard a sermon on practical jokes. Maybe it has been an oversight of those minister's and pastor's giving the sermons.
No I shall not put the blame there, it is just something that never comes up. I would assume that is because we have all become proper ladies and gentlemen. That may be so, but that is no fun at all.
Recently I did a Google search and plugged in Christian and fun. To my amazement my computer said that it could not be found. I wondered how that could be. I have never had that happen before. Maybe my computer was sick, you know one of those seasonal computer viruses that you have to get the shot for.
Well that could not be it because I distinctly remember taking my computer in for a checkup and all was fine. The labs came back fine and unlike me the computer was not overweight. It was a healthy 6 year old laptop computer.
So why had I gotten such a message about Christians not having any fun. I have to admit that I was completely perplexed at the whole incident. It had me so worried that I started taking Valium for the anxiety.
My next step was to call one of those TV preachers. They seemed to know all the answers and I was too embarrassed to call my own because I was a Deacon for goodness sake, and I should know the answer to this question.
Well I called one of the better known televangelist. Figured the better known the more they would know about this troubling matter. I dialed the number and with great anticipation waited for the televangelist to answer the phone.
Finally the call connected and to my surprise someone named John answered the phone. Well I prompted told John that I must have dialed the wrong number, because I was looking for this famous televangelist.
John told me that I had the right number. I told John to put him on. You know what John told me. He said that this televangelist did not answer his own calls. He hired people to do that for him. I was in complete and total shock.
Well I told John I would just try another televangelist. You know John told me that none of these people answered their own phone. What way is that to treat people. They flash their number all over the television screen and ask you to call, and they don't even answer their own number.
I have to say that I was rather upset at this whole escapade. I did not know where to turn at this point. Well I told John goodbye and just sat there more confused now than when I started this quest.
Well I came to one startling conclusion. If you read this article all this way through then I have not lost my touch in pulling dramatic practical jokes, and my research proves that Christians can have fun.
