Don’t walk on by and

Pretend I do not matter.

I really would like to have a friend.

You can’t give me a cold hard stare

And convince me you care.

Don’t look through me.

I am right here.

Don’t nod mindlessly and try to hurry away when all I want is to

Speak to you of something that matters to me.

Please pay attention to me.

I really would like to have a friend.

You do not have to beware

Just because I have wild looking hair.

My dog will not bite you.

Neither will I.

Realize I am human

Just like you are human.

I am educated. I want to be able to work again.

No, I am not an addict. That is not why I am here.

I can feel. I also hurt.

Sometimes I even go to church.

God thinks I am important even though I live with the sky as my roof.

Living in a home with walls and a floor makes it easy for you to forget people like me exist.

Don’t you profess to be His child?

Then why don’t you love me as you say you love Him?

I have not eaten today.

I have not had a bath in three.

I have dreams of a job and clothes without holes and someday a bike to ride to work.

I dream of living in a motel room where I can shower everyday.

I want someone to love again. Someone to share life with.

Like everyone else in this world, I would like more than just necessities.

Please, won’t you help me?
