MOUNTAIN PATHS

The world assures us that there are many paths up the mountain of faith, but be re-assured that the only one that counts is the one that has a rugged old cross at the top. The others are products of dreamy philosophers and human ideas. They sound nice, and one certainly has a world of choices, but therein lies a dangerous fallacy. They are constructed in the minds of mere mortals, and any twist or turn of choice is allowed, seemingly great freedom. And great danger! Hundreds of ideas with contradictory but equal standing make no sense. Truth does not contradict itself, nor is it splintered a thousand ways.

There is only one way to the cross that counts, and there are no ifs, ands or buts about it. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by me.” John 14:6 But the world protests, “Yes, but He died there on that cross! Where’s the power?” The answer thunders from that cross three days later, in terms undeniable, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” Matt. 28:18 The grave couldn’t hold Him. His claim is singular. It stands alone. There is no other valid path up the mountain except the one that leads to the cross and a risen Savior.

There are about as many ideas among people about everything as there are fleas on a dog, and most are about as useful. But Jesus said, “…You shall know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free.” John 8:32

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5: 1

May God bless the reading of His Word and our insight into It.
