Jesus Christ gave three vital mandates to be carried out. He did not mean to establish any religion or separate political set up. His message is for all the human beings. It is to make all people live happily. His mission is to find a contented and happy life on this earth. His mission is to build up heaven on this earth itself.

Three mandates of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ lived on this earth two thousand years ago. He gave three mandates to be carried out by those who follow him. They are:

1) The mandate of “doing in memory”

Jesus said to them, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). This is the mandate to be ready to sacrifice for others. It is the commandment of sharing together in love. It is not a liturgical ceremony or ritual. It is day to day life shared with God and men.

2) The mandate of proclamation

Jesus said to his disciples before he departed from this earth, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). This is the mandate of announcing the Good News to all people. This is telling the Good News of love. It is the supreme commandment of love that Jesus gave humanity before his death-- “Love one another”.

This mandate of proclamation is not to increase the number of followers for Christ by force or by dogmas. It is to tell others the love of God the Father and to love others as God loves all of us. It is by living that true love that the mission of Jesus is fulfilled.

3) The mandate of charity

Love extends in sharing. It is the life of charity. Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” (Matthew 25: 40) Jesus pointed out in so many ways how to live these words of love in charitable sharing.

The mandate of charity reflects the Song of the Angels when Jesus was born. This mandate of charity fulfills the supreme sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. Every charitable act fulfills this mandate of charity.

Charity is not mere giving money or food. It is sharing true love without any restriction.
These three mandates are interconnected. You cannot tell others what you have not experienced. You cannot share, in the true sense, if you do not have true love. Human life is judged by God not by the rituals or ceremonies that one performs when he is alive. But it is judged by the life of love and charitable sharing.

The mandate of love is seeing the image of God in everyone. True love has no boundaries of division such as color, creed, caste or any other factor of discrimination. It is embracing all in God’s love, remembering the mandate of Jesus, “What you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, you do for me”
