TAKEN

As I looked deep into her eyes
I saw brokenness and tragedy
With smile to hide the lies
To pose as normal the strategy.

Broken and dead within the soul
Striped and tore from life’s joy
Her captives with force and control
Women and children they destroy.

More than a naked soul she lost
Forced to live a life of abuse
Her innocents was taken at a cost
Her humanity now a poor excuse.

Young women and children vanishing
Taken away to other lands to serve
Victims being sold in human trafficking
A life they didn’t expect or deserve.

Few are lucky to get a break and escape
Most are kept captive until they are killed
Though broken inside, now free from rape
They spend life without joy never to be filled.

There is sadness deep within her eyes
A brokenness from the tragedy remains
All the smiles can never undo the whys
We pray one day happiness she regains.
