"And on the third hour He was crucified,"
but not till the ninth did Jesus Christ die,
He hung there six hours in shame and disgrace,
My sins were the cause, but He took my place.

The Kings of all Kings, they mocked, they scorned,
They fashioned a crown of Jerusalem thorns,
Those 39 stripes, tore open His flesh,
40 less 1, for 40 meant death.

He carried the cross and did stumble and fall,
But the miracle was, He took one step at all,
Through Jerusalem's streets, and up that ole' hill,
The crowd wanted "blood," they were eager to kill.

Yet, they didn't crucify, my Messiah that day,
It was for my sins and your sins, Christ had to pay,
So always remember, and never forget,
His death gave you life, his blood paid the debt.

I'll love Him forever, from deep down within,
for the lonely six hours He paid for my sin.
