DESERT PLACES

There is a dryness in desert places
Wind and sand blow across the land
Summer heat flows through the spaces
Winters growth now dead in the sand.

Upon the night’s darkness nature roams
Small animals and reptiles look alive
For food each searches and combs
It’s a harsh place as they survive.

In the nothingness each finds a home
Nothing gained if nothing ventured
With cleverness they build a dome
Some species are now endangered.

Likewise is it with man’s many faces
Many are left without care or notice
Dry and parched as the dessert places
Unmoved or bothered as a desert lotus.
