Years ago I did In-Home Health care for the elderly for Upjohn and a few private duty cases. It gave me such a love and compassion for the elderly and I loved my job. But...there were times when it was really hard to see them so sick and discouraged about the things that were happening to them. They really hated the slow deterioration of their minds and bodies, and sometimes they were in a lot of discomfort or pain.

I really sought God about how to pray for them...because healing is not always an option when it comes to the aging process. This is the answer the Lord gave me: "Pray that if their "length of days has been fulfilled" they will go peaceably to be with the Lord...but if not, rebuke the devourer for their sake."

I have been visiting my sweet friend on Tuesdays for a while now and she was in really bad shape. Dialysis three times a week and multiple other issues. She was a very loving and independent woman all her life and hated her current situation so much. She didn't have any hope left. She enjoyed my visits and little treats I brought so much and told me every week how much it meant to her... but, the rest of the time was miserable for her.

My heart broke as I drove away from my last visit because of the way she was feeling. As I drove out of the parking lot the Lord reminded me of that prayer. I prayed it!

Yesterday I went to the Nursing home...with my usual little bag of goodies and ramped up my cheerfulness as I walked the hall to her room. She wasn't there! She had gone to be with the Lord! No one had called to tell me because they didn't have any number to reach me. My heart was both broken and relieved at the same time.

Thank you Lord, that Barb is with you...whole again and pain free...and rejoicing in Your Presence!
