1952

1952 was a very good year
Born in the class of fifty two
Now their first child was here
Life was simpler back then.

An innocent period in history
The World Wars over and done
A new war in Korea had begun
Dad was working mom was mom.

As I grew older and we had TV
Dad was out mowing the lawn
Saturday morning cartoons on
Glued to the TV ready for fun.

Mighty mouse and Davey too
Popeye and little Lamb Chop
And don’t forget the soda shop
Families went to visit the zoo.

A penny for your thoughts
Get your jaw breakers too
A kid’s dream come true.
Outside to play until four.

Cowboys and lots of Indians
Kids all had raccoon hats
Learning baseball get a bat
Had suspenders for my pants.

Fifty-two a very good year
Looking back with a tear
Glad to be born to live
Hope to be here in 2052.
