One Peter; another Paul.
The two gate keepers of Heaven
Holding the golden keys to the heavenly gates.

The Primacy of Peter a firm foundation
The shepherd appointed by the Lord
The rock on which God built His Church
The waters of the underworld could not overcome it.

Paul a great missionary of the times
Converted on the way to Damascus
Suffered shipwreck, imprisonment and exile
Eloquent writer of the canonical epistles.

The two pillars martyred for their faith
Peter crucified upside down
Paul beheaded in the Roman city
The two brave warriors in the army of God.

The two pillars an example to follow
In the present world of strife
To untiringly preach the Gospel
Until we behold them in front of the majestic gates.
