We're all living on borrowed time.
The time gets shorter and shorter
Are we all that we can be?
When we get called before the Master,
Did we make use of all that borrowed time?

Are we searching God for the wisdom
On how to live our days;
To lie in bed at night and pray
About the error of our ways?
Are we forgetting that we, ourselves,
Are responsible for this time?
Or are we thinking selfishly
And not of those in need?

Living on time that's borrowed
Should bring us to our knees;
To know His Word, His ways, His love,
And to lend a helping hand,
For we are collectively His Body
On Earth, His human form.

Don't waste the time you're given
To share your gift of faith,
God's given you gifts and talents
For enriching the human race.
Be open for the appointments that
Make their way into your day,
Don't worry about your schedule
God will make it fit some way.

There is no sure foundation
Other than what was laid down for us.
Jesus laid down His life
And on Him we now must build.

Take care, lest you build a structure
That will not endure the test:
A structure made of gold, silver,
Precious stones, wood hay, and straw,
Which materials are best?

The quality of our works will be revealed
In the fire of His gaze.
Whatever withstands the fire
Will to us be a reward.

Should our works not remain standing,
He sure will suffer loss,
But he shall be saved
Within the Refiner's fire.

We are all on borrowed time.
Are you giving all that you can give?
Let His love kindle the fire,
And ignite you with desire
For the lost,
That they all may know
Of His love and grace.
