Being a father is a great vocation. Fatherhood is not not an accidental relationship. It is an eternal plan of the heavenly Father. A Christian fatherhood is a great privilege and a blessed responsibility. God has entrusted His creation work and providential care to a father to be fulfilled along with the mother.

A child tastes the love of God through the parents. Christian fatherhood is a very specialized vocation to be lived amidst all odds and troubles. Fostering children in Faith is the privilege and special responsibility of a Christian father. Here are a few practices that can make children grow in Faith and love of God.

1) A Christian dad should always be aware to teach children Faith
Children receive Faith from their parents. It is the parents who introduce God to the children. They teach the children to believe in things that they cannot experience with their five natural senses. A father can talk about germs or everyday realities that are not seen firsthand, but do exist in reality. This he can use as a foundation to teach Faith. Unless Faith is nurtured from childhood, the children cannot grow in Faith.

2) Involve family in reading scriptures
The word of God is a powerful means to make the children grow in Faith. Children can be encouraged reading scripture passages and enjoy them. They should be made to enjoy the stories in the Bible.

3) Come together in family prayer
Family prayer is a strong medium of growing in Faith. The family that prays together is specially blessed by God and is never disappointed in any situation of despair. Prayer strengthens Faith and love of God.

4) Faith is best learned by exemplary life
Exemplary life of parents is the best teaching of Faith. Trusting in the providence of God and doing everything seeking His blessings can be an effective teaching to the children. Hope in God makes the parents face every troubled situation with courage and patience. It requires genuine belief. It is the single best way to bring up children in unshakable Faith in God.

Fathers Day is an occasion to strengthen the significance of fatherhood. Father is the architect of Faith in a family. The Fathers day of this year gives an opportunity to analyze the noble values of fatherhood in every family.
