I know what it's like to be like Barabbas,
to be a wretch and a thief.
But Jesus came to set me free beyond belief.

I know what it's like to be Adam,
to eat the fruit of the tree,
but the Father gave his Son, so a son I could be.

I know what it's like to be Mary Magdelene,
to empty out my bottle of perfume,
and now I lay it all down for Him and only Him to consume.

On days I am like Martha,
not expecting one to live once dead,
but i serve the King of life, the resurrection and the bread.

I can be like Peter,
without hesitation denying you thrice,
undermining the blood, the lashes and the price.

Sometimes I am like Samson,
exchanging my strength for Delilahs and lust,
but before you raise your hand remember I am but dust.

Yet of all the people, I long to look like you,
The Messiah, a carpenter, the Nazarene Jew
