The scripture for the day 5 June 2012 is Matthew chapt. 7 verse 11.
My thought along this particular scripture is that the one who is evil is the ruler of this world... i.e. Satan. If he is able to give his children or followers good gifts, and he has limited powers, we need to look to the Creator of Existence... i.e. Elohim. The Creator Father, has much more to give and not quite as temporal as to what Satan has to offer.
We are brought back to the thoughts in Matt 6:33 where we are told to "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be added unto you." Here we are at the starting point of receiving things from God... ask, seek, and knock. As always when Jesus told people something, it was simple, yet the people had to understand and use some of their thinking abilities. Yes, everyone can ask, does everyone receive what they ask for? Not necessarily since many have taken the basics and use them in the order they are presented. Since Matthew 6 tells us to seek ye first the kingdom of God, this is my intellectual speaking to me; One has to reference the source in order to receive from the source. A water faucet has to be found in order to get water... at this point; one then needs to realize the importance of knowledge of this source in order to receive water.
God has not made receiving things from him difficult; He just wants us to realize he is not the goose and the golden egg. We can have anything we want if we take the time to request what we want in an appropriate manner. If your child would walk up to you and say "I really want (any particular item) and the thank you for your time" how many of us would look at the child and mention words such as arrogant, self serving, pretentious, just to name a few. So what makes God any different? For us to get into the prayer mode, and immediately ask for whatever the flavor of the day is, and then try to butter him up with the I love you, I adore you. Certainly we would look at our children if they were to come to us and say "Remember me? I am your child, and I would really want (any particular item)" and then leave without any more explanation or conversation. We would look at them as though they were nuts.
Should however, my children have a relationship with me... talk to me... and just for no apparent reason, tell me "Dad I really love you and you are the best dad ever. Just thought I would let you know." I would think something is up or what does this kid want and then find out they were just keeping in touch. When this kid needs something and comes to me and says "Dad this is really important and I need (any particular item) you know I wouldn't ask you unless it was important." At this point, we find ourselves with whatever it is they ask for, smiling and saying to ourselves "that's my kid."
In conclusion, I feel that the seeking portion of the ask, seek, and knock, is the most important. To make the relationship, into a close relationship, we need to do more than to find ten minutes when we can utter a few complements and ask blessings for this person and that person, we need to find hours when we can cuddle up on the lap of our Father and just enjoy his presence. Not to eventually ask for something, but to just be there and understand him, and enjoy just being there. Listening to what His wisdom and to what He has to teach us. So the next time your impertinent child comes up and asks for something, ask yourself, is this what I do to God?
