Set Us Sinners Free

The bondage of sin envelopes us,
Carrying the weight of sorrow.
Yesterday looms in the present,
No hope or dreams for tomorrow.

Each day brings it’s own transgression,
Sinking to a bottomless pit.
Saving our tears for another day,
Drowning in our own sin.

Shadows follow us on the road,
No daylight yet to be seen.
Journeying on to no destination,.
Paths to nowhere He’s ever been

Face to the Heavens we cry to the Lord,
Find us please we are lost.
Give us a reason for our dreadful lives,
Lived for ourselves at great cost.

What in this world did ever make us,
Just to waste our lives this way?
No purpose or reason have we to go on,
Please come and release us today.

Come take this burden off our spirits,
As we lift up our arms to plead.
Jesus please come take hold of ourselves,
We will follow wherever you lead.

Mercy rain down on these souls of sinners,
Give our lives another chance to be.
God in his wisdom speaks to our hearts,
Saying children I now set you free.
