Redeemed - written 08/14/2011

I'm grasping around
Looking inside of me
And I'm not real proud
Of what I come to see

How can he love me
The wretch that I am
When all that is good
Is exalted in him

I see weakness
Deeper than I knew
Yet he has the strength
To keep pulling me through

I see heartache
Holding me back
But he's the compassion
That mends up the cracks

I see burdens
Pushing me down
Until he lifts them
Above the thorns in his crown

I see insecurities
Making me hide
Then he brings the confidence
To push each one aside

I see darkness
Threatening to invade
Then comes his light
Telling me I'm saved

I see shame
Building in my heart
Until his forgiveness
Breaks it all apart

I see arrogance
Leaking into my mind
Wearing with the humbleness
His word has designed

I see the flaws
Of this broken soul
But he sees a girl
That he can make whole

I look at me
And I see a loss
He looks at me
And sees the blood on the cross
