Today I am sharing a statement from the last will and testament of a man who at first glance may appear to be a poor mountain farmer expressing his faith in the Bible while he holds his six shooter close to his heart.

"I commit my soul into the hands of my Saviour, in full confidence that having redeemed it in His most precious blood He will present it faultless before the throne of my Heavenly Father; and I entreat my children to maintain and defend, at all hazard, and at any cost of personal sacrifice, the blessed doctrine of complete atonement for sin through the blood of Jesus Christ, once offered, and through that alone."

Actually this statement rivaling that of any modern born again Christian is the defining statement of John Pierpont Morgan, better known as J.P. Yes, that J.P. Morgan. Tragically the true legacy of J.P. Morgan has been lost in the glitter of his monumental achievements in the field of high finance.

Leaving the children a clear cut testimony of faith in Christ is more important than all the wealth and power bequeathed by Morgan to his family. Demonstrating a vibrant faith in Christ via a clear stating and understanding such as today's excerpt can make a lasting difference in many lives. That Mr. Morgan passed in his sleep at 76 makes the statement all the more powerful.

How much did J.P. leave behind? All of it.
