There is no mistake we have to submit to those appointed in authority over us. As Christians this is an order from God. 1 Peter 2:13 ¶Keep all the laws of men because of the Lord; those of the king, who is over all, 14 and those of the rulers who are sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers and for the praise of those who do well. 15 Because it is God's pleasure that foolish and narrow-minded men may be put to shame by your good behavior: 16 As those who are free, not using your free position as a cover for wrongdoing, but living as the servants of God; 17Have respect for all, loving the brothers, fearing God, honoring the king. Make no mistake we must submit to those who we the people have elected, but, our first responsibility is to God, he is the one who has put those in direction over us, not just to Govern but to establish law based on God’s word. In doing so those who would commit crimes could be punished according to the law.
What happens when those in authority over us are there not because of God’s provisions, but those of man’s? 1 Peter 2:19 For it is a sign of grace if a man, desiring to do right in the eyes of God, undergoes pain as punishment for something which he has not done. 20 What credit is it if, when you have done evil, you take your punishment quietly? But if you are given punishment for doing right, and take it quietly, this is pleasing to God. 21 This is God's purpose for you: because Jesus himself underwent punishment for you, giving you an example, so that you might go in his footsteps: 22 Who did no evil, and there was no deceit in his mouth: 23 To sharp words he gave no sharp answer; when he was undergoing pain, no angry word came from his lips; but he put himself into the hands of the judge of righteousness: 24 He took our sins on himself, giving his body to be nailed on the tree, so that we, being dead to sin, might have a new life in righteousness, and by his wounds we have been made well. 25 Because, like sheep, you had gone out of the way; but now you have come back to him who keeps watch over your souls. Jesus is the example we need to follow, as we read through Matthew and John, Jesus would rebuke the Chief Priests and Scribes, not in curses or temper, but with kind words and instruction they could not challenge. His greatest example was dying on the cross for sins he was not guilty of, but we are all of us, and that includes those in positions of leadership. Jesus knows what injustice is and tells us we will suffer because of the same injustice that he endured on the cross. This is the cost of following him and being obedient to the will of God.
Jesus’s example is more than just passive submission to authority; it is one of righteous indignation. How many times did Jesus point out that his power and authority came from God his Father in heaven? Above all he was submissive to the will of God 1st then to the will of man second, even though he had no need to be, he was and is the incarnation of God. Jesus was the master, but he chose to be submissive in order to make God his Father known.
As Christians we need to take Jesus’s example and put it into our own lives. We know that our Government is wrong and passing laws that are against God’s law. Even though we must be submissive, our true loyalty must be to God. Obedience to God’s law will not happen if we just stay quiet and unresponsive to the Holy Spirit. I cannot believe in my heart that any true Christian cannot be enraged by the events that are unfolding in Washington. Why do we stand by as laws are passed to redefine marriage as God defined it in the Bible? Why are we not speaking out against an administration that openly admits it wants to silence the Church and impose Socialist values on a Country that is a Democracy? According to the 2010 census 38% of Americans claim to be Christian, but less than half are registered to vote, and even less are involved in current events. Many more of those don’t even watch the news nor have any idea what’s happening in our country.
With just under half the Country Christian, don’t you think the Christian vote would be something the Politicians would go after? They don’t because Christians are passive, they don’t want to make wave or draw attention to themselves where they could be open to criticism. So our leaders deal with those making the most noise, Gay rights groups, those against religion, those that are pro-abortion, those that have money and influence. Brothers and sisters if we continue in this manner soon we will lose the very rights that so many of our fore fathers fought and died for. Are you willing to give up your right to worship the way you want? How about how you’re tax dollars are used or you very right to live as you choose and to continue to live when you are old?
Make no mistake this election is very pivotal, at no other time in our history has our freedoms Guaranteed to us in our constitution and bill of rights been under such an attack. The current administration would like nothing better than to rewrite both of these documents and establish itself as the only governing party in America, and have the authority to control the people as they see fit, I believe this type of government is called Socialism, better known as Communism. The laws this Government wants passed are inhumane, immoral and more important in total contradiction of God’s laws. This is not the Christian America that was set and established by the Continental Congress and accepted by the 13 Colonies in 1776.
Brothers and Sisters stand now as God’s army against the evil that is being promoted during this election. Get involved in the community, start making noise that our politicians can no longer ignore. Stop allowing those who want Christians to go away, to continue to speak for America. Let us come together as God’s people to show our land he is still in control, and that our God will not be silenced. We must make our voices heard or soon we will no longer have the right to raise our voices. Pray to God for wisdom; ask him in church, at home, at work. Then when he gives it to you, take ACTION! Let the voice of God speak through us all and let us rebuild America for his glory, and for a time keep Satan’s forces at bay until he calls his Church home. The Lord is sending us a wakeup call, will you respond with me?
