“She Said My Name”

She is two, she is innocent, pure, clean, she is gentle and tiny, she is smart and very much alive in every way. She is an adventurer and a risk taker, she is soft spoken and tries very hard at everything she does. She is funny and loves to entertain, to sing, to laugh, to be tickled, to play shy, she loves to dance, she loves to feel free from tight arms, from diapers, from clothes, she loves soft cheezies and McDonald's french fries, to take baths, she is a free spirit.....she is beautiful, she is my niece Meredith.
Her soft blonde curls blew in the wind as her tiny hand grasped the flowers she picked and her other hand held my finger. Her grasp was one of total trust and with a big smile on her face she looked up at me and "look aunt Rhonna" for the very first time. My heart overflowed with every wonderful emotion a person could have. For the past year I had been trying to get her to call me by name and her little mind just couldn't figure out where I fit in to her family....who I was...until today.
We walked all around the yard that was freshly mown. We looked for flowers and chased butterflies and patted trees and talked to them, we kicked rocks and held hands and kissed and looked at birds flying so high in the sky. I could hear her echoing each word I said. She is learning all of the time, she wants to be able to say everything you can see it in her eyes. She
wants to feel, to touch, to taste, to smell... life is one big adventure! She doesn't know how
much she is loved, she doesn't know how much she was prayed for to come, she doesn't know she was a dream come true! She also doesn't know that she has a big, wonderful, loving family who would gladly give their lives for her. She doesn't know that she is so small in this big world. what she doesn't know is much... and yet she knows she is in a secure, loving environment, and she thrives.

How much are we like that? We don't know how much we are loved, we really don't. We don't know how many times He has interceded on our behalf. Hebrews 7:25 says that "He ever makes intercession for us". We'll really don't know very much despite our attitudes and egos and we forget that we are so small in this world. I can just imagine our Father's reaction when we spoke His name for the first time, when we looked up at Him with a big smile on our face and love in our hearts for Him and said "Jesus"! We finally figured out who He was! How His heart overflows with emotion every time we speak His name. Zephaniah 3:17 says, "The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing".(amp) Every time we put our hand in His and he feels the warmth and squeeze of our grasp.
The squeeze of a hand can tell so much, how much someone loves, how much someone trusts, how much someone is in need. He longs for us to take his hand and to walk with Him and talk with Him and trust Him. He longs for us to see the beauty of His creation, to feel His presence and His peace... to be totally free! To know His truth that sets us free, free to be ourselves, free to take risks, to run, to dance, to praise, to be an adventurer! He longs for us to learn all of His ways, to learn His word, to know His voice, to really know who He is! He longs for us to be as little children.... for you see.... in His eyes we are just that. Through His righteousness we are innocent, pure and clean. Oh, how much He loves you and me!!
