SOUL FLIGHT

The feelings that surround me
Invisible and encapsulating
They swoop in uninvited like the careless flight of a bird on the wind
Are not those that present that of impregnation?
The implicit expression of an individual fixed upon a single heart
Trapped within as though unable to depart
Not yet given division
The very wings of partition

As though I have no place in the decision of freedom
My mind is determined to interrupt that which I will not regard
To be the prediction of a captured soul irresolute of torment
For this I would have to consider character a distinction
Still, all I wish, is just to be
To live beyond what ensnares my identity
To move without effort within who I am
Whom I know to be inside
Not to struggle with each breath to withhold from the world my indemnity

The sorrow of broken branches all too familiar
Withdrawn from me have been the limbs of reason
The undergrowth of cause created only to ambiguously become mine
Aware of all that I cannot be
I do now proclaim
The unwilling release of me
