The story is told, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream.

He was a king and he dreamed of an image of gold.

This is a version of the story he told.

He told it to Daniel, a mighty prophet of old.

Daniel listened to the king, his image of gold.

Nebuchadnezzar saw a beast rise up out of the sea.

It was terrible and nasty.

It had ten horns with a name of blasphemy.

The beast the king saw looked like a leopard;

His feet were like that of a bear,

His mouth like that of a lion,

And the beast received his power from a great dragon.

That was the dream Nebuchadnezzar dreamed.

He wanted to know what it foretold.

Therefore, he asked the prophet of old.

Daniel interpreted what mighty Jehovah told:

Nebuchadnezzar represented the image of gold.

After him would rise an inferior kingdom,

Not gold, but silver, a second kingdom of power.

The third kingdom was not silver, but brass.

The fourth kingdom, part iron and part brass,

Represented by the legs and toes,

Indicated the government would divide,

And be partly strong, and partly broken.

The mystery of the dream was interpreted by Daniel.

He said the kingdoms were represented by animals.

They, the Gentile empires, would rule the world.

The first, the lion, expresses the Babylonian Empire,

The second, a bear, was the Medo-Persian Empire.

The third Empire, a leopard, was the Greek Empire.

After this, Daniel said there would be a fourth Empire.

This last Empire would be Rome.

Rome, the fourth, will be the clay and iron, ruled by men;

The fourth kingdom will “devour the whole earth.”

Prophesy of the Bible, Daniel Chapter 2 and Revelation Chapter 13.
