Double Play

I remember a time less than 20 years ago

A young centerfield was quickly horizontal with the baseball diamond About 4 feet in the air,
he rapidly summarized the situation at the crack of the bat hitting the ball. His gloved arm outstretched; his eyes set on the line drive. His purpose in this moment was soon fulfilled- he caught the ball, made eye contact and quickly shot the sphere
at an amazing pace to second base while still in the air
and gracefully landed on his side.

In less than 8 seconds-a Double Play.
It was Sudden It was Quick It was Precise It was Breath taking to watch my young son.
The young man straightened himself out, tucked his uniform shirt back in and repositioned for the next play; His hands on his bent knees, his eyes ever watchful; nothing will get passed him. The action photo captured his determination and purpose on his ridged face –they soon became part of his life expression.
His life expression was almost extinguished as his mother was asked to end his life. Before it began they gave him no chance and left up to the doctors, this young ball player would never be.
His mother knew better; she chose life in more ways than one.
Her faith in Gods grace to give her the strength was all that entered her heart. That unmerited grace gave her comfort; today
Her child is her joy.
