Stewardship
Week 4-Purpose for Your Body
We are spirit beings and our spirit is encapsulated by a body which God uniquely created. No two people look exactly the same; even identical twins have unique differences (finger prints). We come in all different shapes, colors, and sizes. Psalms 139:14

1. Looking at Romans 12:1, why is it important that you take care of your body?

2. I Corinthians 3:16,17 tells you that you are the “temple” of God. What will happen if you defile your temple?

3. Looking at I Corinthians 6:19,20, how can you show honor to God with your body?...your spirit?

Our bodies do not belong to us they belong to God. Once again, God is the owner of everything; it’s our responsibility as stewards to manage it properly. A defiled “temple” (body) can hinder your service for and relationship with God. It impacts your prayer life, praise/worship, and purpose. We become a vessel of “dishonor” not fit for the Master’s use 2 Timothy 2:19-21.
Personal Assessment ✎
1. What are some specific things you do to your body that defile it?

2. Think about your immediate family. What are some habits that exist that are harmful to your body?

3. With God’s help what changes are you willing to make to be a better steward of your body?

It is our responsibility to bring about change. First, we must acknowledge and accept the fact that we are abusing our temple when we don’t take care of our body. We should treat our bodies as a precious gift from God. Second, we need to seek the help of God in making the lifestyle change of taking better care of our bodies. God knows us better than we know ourselves. Third, educate yourself by seeking and gathering information on healthy living. Fourth, design a good health plan that works for you. Write it down and diligently follow it. Hang it up where you can see it everyday as a reminder of your decision to make a change. Fifth, be patient and don’t give up. Lifestyle changes don’t happen overnight.
