Let’s Go Soul Fishing
It’s time to go get souls. Men are dying daily without Christ, Why? Don’t we care? We need a mind to work like the people in Nehemiah 4:6. They rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem with just a remnant of the people left. First Nehemiah was made aware of the situation, after he had heard of the captivity of the people and the wall of Jerusalem having been broke down with the gates being burned down he wept. First we have to hear the Word then get a passion for Christ and want to do something about it. How do we get the job done? We have faith concerning it and have a mind to work on it by faith and catch the vision and go fishing.
When we go fishing for souls we have to fast, pray, and have a plan. We must build up and not tear the people down. Every man have a soul that needs to be caught rather they have money or not. We must walk through sarcasm, take all of the enemy attacks, tear down disunity in the body of Christ among us and bear the false accusations that may come. Our ears must be attentive to hear from heaven as to what to do, where to go, and how to individually meet each person on their own level. Open our eyes of understanding that we not be condemning, but operate out of love. Then we must understand what we are up against. We cannot see the people but God, drop the hook of the Word after we catch their attention and let God do the increase of our labor.
To go fishing we must first become footmen for Christ; soldiers willing to die for the cause. We must learn to fight for the common interest of Christ. It takes a united effort of every believer to get the job done. Christ has set up an organization where all must follow; but there are always going to be some dissenters (people that will disagree, contradict or differ). Nehemiah had them and Jesus did too. A soldier fights for a cause; for what they believe in. Well we to have to go through that same basic training to become fishermen of Christ.
Jesus teaches us how to be fishermen of men
Matthew 4:18-19 and Jesus waling by the sea of Galilee saw two brethren, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea for they were fishers. And he said unto them; follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Be ready to forsake all to follow Jesus
Mark 1:18 and straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.
Never stop looking for men to make fishermen of them
Mark 1:19-20 and when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother who also were in the ship mending their nets. And straightway he called them; and they let their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants and went after him.
After we call men to repentance we have to teach them the way of the Lord
Mark 21-22 and they went into Capernaum and straightway on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine, for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
Now we are ready to go soul fishing. Jesus uses us and calls us fishermen because the fishing industry was important in Egypt and in Palestine as well. He used the trade to make plain his purpose for coming. He came to fish men out of their sin that they might be saved. He wanted to put a hook in us so that we may be caught up, cleaned, put through the fire and become eatable. Once we become eatable we can be served up as good nutrients for the body. He was teaching us to realize what we want to be served up as. Realize our purpose for being saved; that is to become a fisherman strong in the faith and ready to forego the winds on the water and the fact that we may only catch one fish a whole day. Fishermen mourn and laments over the fact that they can’t fish; this breaks their purpose. We are sent out as fishers of souls; hunters.
Souls are dying daily; are we the cause? Have we been neglecting to do our duty to God? Sin has doubled in the land and brought about afflictions for all. God says that sin has defiled the land and the earth prevails against its inhabitants because of sin. Sin has filled the earth and the world is filled with carcasses of the detestable and abominable things. Don’t let it be said too late that we watched the unfolding of the great afflictions to come and did nothing about it. Even the people not saved realize that there is a God but they don’t submit to Him. How much more we that are saved, sanctified, and Holy Ghost filled? God has called us to know His hand and His might; and the unsaved too shall know that God’s name is great. Let’s go soul fishing!
It’s time we go back to the potter’s house that we once again hear the voice of God. Every soul of man need to be a vessel marred in the hand of the potter again. God wants to make us fishermen over and over again so that we remain a vessel of honor. God uses us in the earth to go into the hills and valleys and compel men to come to Him. He commands us to tell them to hear the Word. It’s time to cry out and lift up the name of the Lord. The soul of the Spirit is saying to its Lord that the man you breathed me into have hardened their hearts towards you and I a stuck in between a rock and a hard place because of the sin they pronounce against us. Men today curse the day they were born. God takes pleasure in one soul being saved. He adds a jewel in His crown every time one gives up their sin and remain with Him.
Soul winning is a mission accomplished in the Christian’s life. What are we going to do? Not becoming a soul winner is having a crushed dream. The enemy of our souls tells us that we can’t win souls. It seems pretty hard at times because people are not ready to give up their sin. We must however realize that we may plant the seed of Christ and God does the increase. We don’t know who it is behind the veil but we must trust God that He knows what He is doing.
