"My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." - 2 Cor 12:9
The Grace of The Lord. We know that His Grace is sufficient, but how? In these times of E-VAT and a seemingly apathetic economy, is God enough?
The answer, even for those who "have not," is YES. God is enough, in the sense that God can give us what we need, when we are faithful to Him, and His will.
Sometimes people equate being faithful to God as being faithful to a church, or some form of service. However, when God says one thing and the church says another thing, the church is wrong.
To be faithful to God, one must love Him completely, with wonder at His amazing grace. The timeless song, Amazing Grace, talks of the fact that God loves us wretches (a word which means sinful, dirty, unpardonable) and hence we should praise Him - and as the song says "when we've been there ten thousand years . . . we've no less place to sing His praise then when we've first begun." Nothing shall reduce our praise for Him.
Jesus sat with the sinners, after picking up a hated tax collector and going to his house. He ate with them, touched them I'm sure, and probably joked with them. In a culture wherein eating with someone conveys trust and friendship, this was culture-shocking.
Today Jesus promises that He will eat with us, and the only thing separating us physically is our skin.
But even today, we fellowship with Him; He who accepted us as wretches and sinners. We who cannot improve our position with Him past accepting His salvation.
He accepts us just as we are. If we try to become "good" before coming to God, we never will come to Him.
Imagine a child who stayed outside and told his mother, "I'm not coming out until I can be perfect. I disappoint you and I need to be perfect before you accept me." Open the door, and come in, and serve your master as you are.
The call to holiness, the call to become better, is because we love Him and want to please Him. We want to live good lives that show we love Jesus, and to draw people to Him.
Imagine a communist/socialist starting a business and trying to earn money by even immoral practices. You would think he was a hypocrite. He would not be pleasing to his superiors. And of course you would not be convinced to join his party because his witness didn't work.
God's love is a love of grace. This is the Love that saved a city named Nineveh from certain destruction, because He loved them.
This is a love that accepted us, sinners all, because He loves us.
God's grace for us will abound (reach farther) than sin. It will dig deeper than sin. (Romans 5:15)
The condition to accept Grace is to receive it honestly, realizing that it is not our strength; but our weakness, His strength.
If we read His word, we will realize that the preceding statement "our weakness, His strength" is a living truth, and that God will make our weaknesses strong, in His grace.
In His Grace.
Grace Like Rain.
Amazing Grace.
