Neath the shadow of the cross, thieves stood dying for crimes to pay
While the Savior of the world was crying, Forgive them I pray.

Neath the shadow of the cross, stood the Mother to watch Him there
John, behold thy Mother, watch her with your care.

Neath the shadow of the cross , loved ones followed tho away
Jesus bowed His head proclaiming, It is finished O blessed day.

Neath the shadow of the cross, they nailed Him there
As the saints around downhearted, were filled with deep despair.

Neath the shadow of the cross, midst the crowd He was alone
Praise God for now and forever, for our sins He did atone.
