Encouragement

I write a lot of things on Facebook and for my blogs. Things I hope are encouraging, sometimes informative, and some even just for fun. (And I must confess, if I am completely honest, a few times when I have had a “tiny whiney” session.) And then, there are those times when God speaks something very specific, and His presence is so in the midst of it, that I know it is something He has “assigned” me to share. This is one of those times. I pray this will reach the heart God intends it to, and they will be encouraged.

The Lord reminded me of a phrase I read some time ago. Don’t know where it came from or who said it, but it was…”Your life is God’s book…let Him write it!” There is a very profound truth in that statement! He sees everything, He knows everything, and He has already written each chapter according to His plan for you. You must allow Him to write it, or it will not have the “happy ending.” you are hoping for.

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations we don’t understand and it seems as though God is
not working on our behalf, or that He doesn’t see what is going on. Why is that? How could
that be true? It isn’t…

The Word says in Psalms 11:4, “The LORD is in His holy temple, The LORD's throne is in
heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.”

What it means is, God is still in control…He sees what is happening, but He gives the appearance of not seeing (Reference made to His “eyelids”) to see what you will do and how you are going to react. He tests you. Will you trust Him? Will you stand on the promises of God? Will you remain faithful, even if things don’t go the way you think they should?

Today you may only be in Chapter 5 of this book God is writing, but if you could skip ahead to Chapter 6…or maybe 7…you would find out everything went according to His plan for you and it is all going to be okay! How do we know that? Because the Word makes us the promise in Romans 8:28, “All things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.”

Unfortunately, we can’t “skip ahead”…we have to trust Him for each day, each page, each chapter as it unfolds before us. And we do that by faith; trusting in His Word, His character, and the knowledge of His love for us. The Word says He is the AUTHOR and the finisher of our faith. The faith to live according to His plan and, then the fulfillment of, or consequences of trusting Him! Remember…He wrote THE BOOK…so He certainly can handle writing yours!

Gets a little scary sometimes, doesn’t it? Of course it does…”fear of the unknown” is a force to be reckoned with. I like what David said, and many, many times it has been my only answer to the fear that attempts to overtake my faith. David said, “What time I am afraid, Lord, I will trust in You!”

When fear or doubt try to attack you, go to the Word, remind yourself what He has promised you, and stand on it! He will demonstrate His trustworthiness! He is so faithful…always was…always will be!
