The first thing a believer should do when he gets born again is to find out how the kingdom of God works. Every kingdom has laws upon which it functions; and so is the kingdom of God. The realm of a child of God is the realm that functions by the law of faith. Now someone would wonder what the law of faith is. Lets us look at the book of Hebrew chapter 11, and verse number 1:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

This means that faith is the proof of something that we have not seen yet. The things we hope for may actually be in existence, without being visible. Faith is what makes it real. It is like the document a man has to prove that a particular property is his, of which when presented settles any argument

That we cannot see the future does not mean that it is not there. Faith calls those things that are not in the physical, as though they were. The Bible makes us to know in 1peter chapter 1 and verse number 3, that God’s divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, but we only access those things by faith. The day a man gives his life to God, he automatically enters the kingdom of God where he begins to live by faith. The same way the natural man lives on oxygen, the believer lives by his faith. This is why it is emphasised in the bible, that the just shall live by faith:

“…the just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17), “…The Just shall live by faith” (Galatians 3:11), “…Now the just shall live by faith” (Hebrews 10:38)

Jesus taught us in the book of mark chapter 11 how we can exercise our faith to get result, when he cursed a fig tree:

“And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, no man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever. And his disciples heard it.” (Mark 11: 13-14)

Naturally, trees do not have fruits when it is not their season of bearing fruits. One would have expected Jesus to understand why he could not get fruits from the fig tree, but no, he chose not to accept the situation. The tree said to him, “No you cannot have any fruit now because this is not the season” but Jesus answered back by cursing it. This Jesus did to teach us faith. He spoke and his disciples heard him, and by the next day the tree began to dry up from the root:

“And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the root” (Mark 11:20)

Now this is the lesson: when circumstances tell you something negative, speak back what you believe to it. This is how to exercise the law of faith. We do not get results, because we do not speak to our environment. Faith is not a beggar, it is a taker; it is based on God’s word, and God’s word never fails. If it ever failed, then it was not faith.
