For What Price Will A Man Sell His Soul

A man’s soul is the most precious part of his total being. It is the very breath that was breathed in him to make him a living being. It is the Spirit, his essence, his total being and vitality. His soul is his significance, sense and meaning. Out of the soul of man proceeds his zeal.

The soul is that spiritual nature of man which is more than what is found in the Creation. It is spiritual reasoning and immortal. The soul is synonymous with the life of man, the principal of life; the body is material. Man is made up of body, soul, and spirit. Genesis 2:7 clearly teaches us how man obtained his higher spiritual nature, soul and personality. Jesus in Matthew 16:26 declared that the supreme value of the soul is priceless. For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Value means how is it appraised (assessed, priced, assayed (tested, analysis), estimated (worth, importance, cost, price, significance), evaluated, judged, weighed or considered. The value Jesus said is priceless (very valuable). Is there anything in the earth that ranks supreme over the soul? No. The importance of the soul is so high it was the last thing added to man. It was bestowed upon man and caused man to come alive and be who he is today, a living soul. God made man of the earth and then donated himself to be the vital part of man, the breath. God breathe the breath of his Spirit in man and he became a living soul. What a great contribution! Along with this gift came talents and abilities. Man had a mind, the aptitude, faculty, capacity, capability, and ability to reign in the earth over all else. Yet man exchanges his soul daily for the rudiments of the earth. They have become stagnated, decayed and rotten while they live. We, God’s people are decomposing while we yet remain in the earth because of the choices we make outside of the Will and Word of God.

We won’t examine ourselves so we won’t condemn (doom, sentence, damn, convict, punish) the sin in our lives but will condemn others and say they deserve what they get, but we are just as guilty for we all deserved death but Jesus died for our sin. He never once spoke and said let them die and go to Hell. We are condescending, disdainful and smug. We come forth with a smoke screen covering up our own messed up secret life. We concede, admit, allow and yield to things we ought not. We acknowledge the wrong in others but never see the moth in our own eyes. We have the notion that we are alright. We take a seat of complacency, self-satisfaction, and we are egotistical (conceited, boastful, arrogant, insolent, self-centered, proud and pretentious). Pretty soon we become overbearing (domineering, tyrannical, dictatorial). Job said in Job 9:30 if I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me; if I say I am perfect, it shall prove me perverse.

We exchange our souls for self-worth, self-indulgence and our own self-will (stubbornness). We sin in the body and spirit but only the things that don’t pertain to us is sin. Most of us hate instruction from others and despises reproof in our hearts. We have not obeyed the voice of the one teaching either; yet we want everyone to hear us. Yet we don’t incline our ears to hear wise counsel. In St. John 8:9 after Jesus spoke and said he that is without sin cast the first stone at the woman caught in the act of adultery. They were convicted in their own heart at the words Jesus spoke. He didn’t call them dogs. We are inexcusable in our acts of condemnation on others because we have judged them and judged wrong. Many times the things we judge others for we do the same thing.

It’s time we get control of the thing that strives to cause us to sell our soul. We have to abstain from sin, have some patience and tact about ourselves and put up a defense against what will draw us away from God. We want to deny ourselves its wants and refuse the characteristics of the wicked. We carry forth a strong delusion about who we are. How we prosper in this earth usually lead us to be self-deluded. We think our own ways are right, we are better than others, we have peace while we are in sin, we are above adversity and don’t mention the fact that God will not punish our sin. We are really walking around delusional.

Proverbs 16:32 he that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. We need to deny our own self-worth. Let others speak of us more than ourselves. Stop boasting as Daniel 10:3 says; I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. We fast and boast about it; we just exchanged our prayer and fast out for the praise of men. What will a man exchange his soul for? It’s time we deny our instincts to be seen and known. We have to abstain from the appearance of evil. Everything we deem evil is not. To exalt oneself above God is evil as evil can be. Because our understanding is better than the next person don’t make them feel inferior to us. The pride of our own hearts will deceive us. Some see having a two story house makes them more than one with one story. Be real you just have a higher note but you are no better. Both houses serve the same purpose. They are a covering from the atmosphere.

We are too prideful, haughty, dignified, arrogant and vain in our imagination. What’s being inhabited on the inside is a high mind, exalted to the peak of destruction. What have we exchanged our soul for? Exaltation of men! We shall be brought down to the ground (Obadiah 3-4). Jesus said it like this in Luke 14:11 for whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Paul in II Corinthians 10:5 said casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. When we glory it should be glory to the Lord. Galatian 6:3 if a man think himself to be something when he is nothing he deceive himself.

We should examine our self. That means we inspect, analyze, scrutinize, explore, probe, question and interrogate our own self. Question ourselves about our motives and intents of why we do some things. It should be plain and visible to us why we act the way we do. Is it really about God or are we trying to prove our own unsurity, uncertainty, shyness, or doubt about our own ability exist. Job 13:23 how many are mine iniquities and sins? Make me to know my transgression and my sin. We need to stand in awe and sin not; commune with your own heart upon your bed and be still. Psalm 19:12 who can understand his errors: cleanse thou me from secret faults. When we commune with our own hearts our spirit will make a diligent search of our deeds if they be of God or not.

We really want God to search us, know our heart, try us and know our thoughts. We don’t want any wicked ways in us so that; we be led the way of everlasting life. We want to exchange our soul one day for life eternal in the heavens. But our hearts is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it. Let us search and try our ways, all of them and turn again to the Lord. It’s our ways we need to consider, not our neighbors. If we search diligently more than likely we will become exceedingly sorrowful to find that we aren’t 100%. We find that we are running low in faith. We are a people that practice gluttony, over consumed with worldly goods. Christ is not in us as He should be, and we think too much of ourselves for our meditation is off and we fail to repent in areas that have caused an exchange in the soul realm. Most of us will not repent because of our own selfishness. This makes us self-righteous where we can see everybody else wrong but our own. We can receive of God blessings and allow them to make us stiff necked. Our help is within us instead of in the soul realm; the place where only God dwell. We say we are pure and clean but that’s not what man sees if they probe awhile. We cause God to open his lips against us.

Job 22:23 can a man be profitable unto God as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself. Is it any pleasure to the almighty, that thou art righteous? Or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect? We must know for ourselves that there is no iniquity in us; clean and innocent. To be impure is an exchange for sin. We have compromised our soul. For those that proclaim they have no sin, they lie. We say in our heart that we shall not be moved for adversity shall not come my way. The way of a fool is right in his own eyes. There is a way that seems right unto a man but the end thereof; are the ways of death. When we think we are always right and someone else is wrong it causes an exchange in the soul realm. Most men proclaim every one of his own good deeds but God ponders our heart and judge the deed as of its rightness. Men boast of him-self and don’t allow others to praise them. Even when we do allow others to praise us we get big headed and take God’s glory. There is a generation that is pure only.in their eyes and yet is not washed from their filthiness. But we are all as an unclean thing and all our righteousness is as filthy rags. How dare we stand by ourselves and someone come and stand near us and we push them away saying I am holier than thou. We are building ourselves up for these words; I never knew you, depart from me ye that work iniquity. The things contained in the heart of men are continuously evil if not tended to properly. We are so into ourselves it has caused us to put a price on our soul. We will sell our souls for self-glory. Romans 10:3 for they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish (organize, erect, build, or institute) their own righteousness (devoutness, piousness, saintliness, devotion, reverent spiritual and holiness) and have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

Insubmission causes us to put a price on our soul. God has order; he has a manner in which He gave us to perform in our life. Man must submit to God, wives submit to husbands, single women submit to God, children honor and obey your parents. We are so out of order today. Marriage is between a man and a woman. Parents don’t want to parent children today. Children are raising themselves and their siblings and becoming adults before time. We are selling not only our souls to the enemy but our children souls also. God even says that we are to submit to those who have authority over us in home, church and school.

When we think we are something when we are nothing we deceive ourselves. We are full of hypocrisy just like Saul, the Pharisees, the Church of Laodicea and others. We are self-willed (stubborn). We are a people that love doing those things that have been forbidden. For what price will a man sell his soul? We refuse to walk in the ways of God in our failure to obey parents, refusal to receive correction, resisting the Holy Ghost, walking in our own counsel, in our hardened heart and when we go backwards in our life rather than forward.

For what price will a man sell his soul? In so many ways we have sold God out; therefore we cause a price to be put on our salvation. The sin of man put a price on Jesus. Judas sold him out for thirty pieces of gold. A sorcerer in Samaria sought to purchase from the Apostles the gifts of the Spirit. We today try to buy our souls a way to eternal life but it’s not for sale. A price has already been paid as a final sacrifice for transgressing the Laws of God; being disobedient to or in violation of the Divine commands; moral depravity, iniquity, wickedness, unrighteousness and ungodliness. This means our neglect of know duties as well as our actions, all evil thoughts, words, acts, and all that is contrary to the Law of God; commission or omission. We violate our life and health knowingly as well as His Divine Laws. We will give an account for what we do to these bodies. Any willful transgression deprives our soul divine grace. The unpardonable sin, the sin against the Holy Ghost in Matthew 12:31. The ultimate price we put on our soul is death, eternal damnation in Hell for blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.

When will we stop pricing our soul; missing the mark,with willful disobedience, rebellion, wickedness, going across the bounds of the normal pathway, falling aside, impiety, injustice, and lawlessness?

When will we stop pricing out our soul? We have deviated from the acceptable standard; it’s time to come back to God wholeheartedly. Take responsibility for the living of your soul.
