AS IT IS IN HEAVEN

"Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." Are we falling short in our expectations of just how heavenly earth can be? I admit I have had seasons of super-natural living. A feeling of flying on the wings of the wind; of walking on the stormy seas. But also seasons of feeling plunged to the bottom of the ocean for unforeseen reasons and maybe not so unforeseen really, but succumbing to my own humanity.
But what say we take God seriously about the manifestation of His will on earth as readily as it is in heaven. Not saying we should only expect extraordinarily good things because we understand that God's will can be tests, trials and tribulation while on earth; and although necessary, they don't feel so good. But on the other hand, are we embracing enough of the heavenly experience on this earth?
We all experience God's will in our lives. But perhaps there are things we can do to better nurture the heavenly experience. Obviously prayer, praise and worship, obedience, expectation/anticipation and pure heartedness are a few ways that help us tune into the Lord's will. I'm not saying there is a formula, but it helps to be in good standing if that's at all possible.
Perhaps it may have something to do with, "Calling those things that be not as though they were." Jesus brought the heavenly experience to earth didn't He? The belief that sick people could be healed; that water could be wine; that the dead could be raise back to life; and that thousands of people could be filled with only a couple of fish and a few loaves of bread and so much more of the supernatural did He reveal. Are we not suppose to be able to do the things Jesus did and more? Yes, the word of God says so.
Are we missing the mark? Should earth be a little more heavenly? Are we doing our part to make the earth a more heavenly place? Perhaps we need to start exercising our authority with more zeal. Is it up to us to go about manifesting the heavenly experience? I believe we have a part to play if its no more than just believing.
But we must also expect the fulfillment of this prayer simply by the will of God's goodness. Let's begin to trust God more to reveal what we perceive as the miraculous, the impossible and supernatural. Not only that, but to increase our capacity to love more deeply; for God is love and heaven is filled with His love.
Some of the things I find heavenly on earth are simple things like good perfumes, flowers and gardens and although I haven't had any, babies! I'm also finding my new apartment pretty heavenly and add to that its location is even on the Holy grounds of a church. (Note this was 2012) And then there's this beautiful man I can't stop thinking about; what's up with that? I only know it feels like heaven with him.
Oh Lord our God, make this earth a more heavenly place; fulfill Your word and Your will, "On earth as it is in heaven."
