As I was driving home last evening I was enamored with the beauty of the sunset. My preoccupation with the events of my life of late have left little time for me to pause, reflect or to "stop and smell the roses". Despite all the circumstances that have clouded my mind, the perfectly blended lavender, yellow and orange hues of last evening's sunset managed to penetrate the garrison of thoughts, fears, anxieties and worries that have captured my recent focus and sweep them away for a few moments. As I pondered the fact that another day was ending for me, I was reminded that somewhere in the world a new day was beginning. I remembered the verse in Lamentations 3: 22-23 "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed , because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." Along with this and other promises like it in God's word, I was reminded of God's faithfulness and the fact that the one who created this very sun that was setting and the world around it, created me and that He knows "every thought and intent of my heart". Yesterday is over, today is a brand new day. One day, unless the Lord tarries, I will experience my last sunset on this earth; but even then I have the promise that a new day will begin for me. My journey here will end but my eternal journey with Him will begin. All of a sudden the earthly concerns that have bound me seemed so trivial, Thank you God for capturing my attention with the beautiful sunset.

Dwight, this is very encouraging to others who need to stop and smell the roses. I love sunsets, too-yes, God is a wonderful Creator and as you pointed out it is great to take the time to enjoy His creation.

"All creation sings of the glory of God..." - Your article brings this reality into every life, but because of our human "activities" we fail to see them yet when we do, we are in awe of the God Who authored them.

The opinions expressed by authors do not necessarily reflect the opinion of FaithWriters.com. This is especially true with articles that deal with personal healthcare and prophecy. We encourage the reader to make their own decision in consultation with God, His Word, and others as needed.
