A man’s life
The start of his Christian life at the age of 14. Filled with Gods spirit and anxious to learn as much as possible about the bible and searching for ways to serve God. A young man accepts Jesus as his savior
During his final 2 years of high school, he begins to find peer pressure to socialize with friends and miss church. He begins to find things to do that was not Christlike, in order to continue to fit in. But he says to God, please understand that as soon as I get out of school, I will get back to living the way you want.
Then the young man goes off to the military and serves. It is somewhat difficult to live a good Christian life while serving with a lot of young men and women in various training centers far from home. There are a lot of things a young man can find to explore in life. Though still felling God’s tugging, he says, God please protect me and as soon as I finish my duty to my country, I will get back in church and work for you.
Then the young man goes back home and begins college. Well, he is somewhat older than most of the people in college so in order to fit in, he has to socialize with them and do the things that they are doing though God is still tugging on him, he says God, just let me finish my education and then I will find ways to serve you.
Well during college, the young man finds a young lady that wins his heart and they get married while still in school. Obviously it is rough to make it financially with both of them in school so he continues to feel God tugging on him but, he says God, you know how hard I am working, let me finish this education and get settled into a job and I will find the time to serve you.
Then, the young man and his young wife begin a family and over the next 5 years have a couple of children. The young man then finishes school and begins a job in a distant city and when he feels the tugs of God asking him to serve him, he rationalizes that God, I have this new job, young wife and young kids and I am really working very hard to try to make a success of my life and provide for my family. If you will just keep us safe for a few more years, then God, I will serve you in anyway, you ask.
Then, the family has some health crisis with one of their children and they immediately go to God asking for his divine help to heal the child and they promise that they will all begin going to Church if God will only help heal the child. God heals the child and they join a church and begin raising the children in the church. They go each Sunday and most of the time on Sunday nights. When it is convenient, they will even participate in other activities.
Then the family have some other financial issues that causes the young man and his wife to try to supplement their income by the wife working but, they had a church family that would help them in the growing and development of their children. He does allow his children to go to church when it is convenient for he or his wife to take them. They would participate with the children if it was really convenient but, you know when both parents work, it sometimes is difficult to find the time to participate in the Church activities.
As the children grow up as all families have financial stress and the young man is dedicated to his job and puts in a lot of hours trying to grow within his professional career. He still feels the tug of God asking him to work for him in the church and he says, God, you know how tough it is, you know how many hours I work, you know that if I don’t give my all at work, I will not get the next promotion. I just need a few more years to get the promotion and then I can have more time to dedicate to the Church.
Well, the children grow up and become Christians while attending church and the young man and the mother are so very proud of the great job they have done parenting. Then when the first child goes off to college, it puts a financial strain on the family and the young man works even harder to try to provide a better home, car, and college education for the children.
Finally both children are grown, graduated from college and begin a family of their own. The man and his wife are so proud of what they have done however, they have to make sure that they have a nest egg, not just for college for their grand children but for their retirement. So he continues to dedicate himself to his work and continues the rise up the corporate ladder with each promotion bringing on more demands for his time than the last. He continues to go to Church on Sunday’s and sometimes even participates in other special Church functions, and continues to feel God tugging on his heartstring to do some work for God.
All of the stress from climbing the corporate ladder finally takes its toll on the man and he has serious health issues and heart surgery. He once more bargains with God and says, God, if you can only save my life, keep me healthy and keep my family safe and continue to bless me, When I get the nest egg put back for the grand children’s college, and our home paid off, and a comfortable retirement nest egg, and get over this health crisis, I will work for you.
As the young man went from a young man to a middle aged man to a senior citizen, he spent most of his life feeling God tugging at his heart to do more work for him. Well, finally in the so-called Golden years, he says, well God, I don’t have much time, talent, energy, or health left but, what I do have left, God, I will give it to you. But, now God you have to understand with all of my health issues, with the demands of my grand children, and my age, please don’t expect me to be able to work a lot. Oh by the way God, you know we have a limited nest egg and a very limited income, so don’t expect me to donate a lot financially either.
