Do You Need an Attitude Adjustment?

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.

This was part of an article that I read by Remez Sasson called The Power of Positive Thinking. The article then goes on to state that we all affect, in one way or another, the people we meet. This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through thoughts, transmission of feelings, and through body language. Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive people and avoid negative ones? Have you ever been around a negative person, and when you left them you felt exhausted…like the life had been sucked right out of you?

So, have you had an attitude check lately?

Our attitude has everything to do with where we go in life. Having a healthy attitude will help you rise to a higher level. A healthy-positive attitude can change your financial situation, even though you’re working the same job. A healthy-positive attitude can help bring your stress level down, without the “meds” prescribed by the doctor. A healthy-positive attitude can be a substitute for the foundation you’re putting on your face to cover the pain you’re feeling inside. Now do you understand how important your attitude is for you, and the people around you? In most cases, it’s not the situation that’s weighing you down; it’s your attitude toward the situation that’s doing it.

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Maya Angelou

According to Merriam-Webster online dictionary, an attitude is defined as a feeling or emotion toward a fact or state. We know that our feelings and emotional state change from day to day, so why can’t we change our attitudes in an effort to create peace and prosperity in our lives? If you want to be happy in life, have a happy attitude. If you want to be successful in life, have a successful attitude. Just remember, attitude is a behavior; which means, it can be changed, but it won’t happen overnight.

Make a commitment to improve your attitude. Set a timer on your cell phone that will ring or vibrate every two hours. At that time, stop whatever you’re doing to do an attitude assessment, an attitude check. Think about how your attitude was over the past two hours and what you could do to improve it. Commit to doing this for at least 21 days (experts says that it takes at least 21 days to change a behavior); I guarantee you’ll be a better you; a more Christ-like you.

Now, back to my question, the title of my post, do you need an attitude adjustment? The answer is, yes, everyone does. The real question is, are you disciplined and determined enough to make the adjustment?

Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character. Albert Einstein
