The Sounds of Grace
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound…but what does grace sound like?
More than a hymn that’s been around, and sound for countless times.
It’s the sound of a baby’s cry, lying in a manager.
While holy angels san on high, proclaiming our Savior.
It’s the sound of a boy of twelve, preaching in the temple.
He work was not about Himself. He taught by example.
It’s the sound of God the Father…to His beloved Son…
Out faith’s finisher and author… “I am pleased,” and “Well done.”
It’s the sound of Once calling out... “Come now, and follow Me.”
Or, “Peace. Be Still.” While tossed about, to calm the raging sea.
It’s the sound of authority, earned through obedience.
Sickness, disease, and demons flee, when grace-filled words are sent.
The sound of grace is His footsteps, searching for each lost sheep.
It’s the sound of each word He said, spoken to you and me.
It’s the sound of His prayers and tears, and of His blood-stained sweat.
The sound of each drop made it clear. He came to pay our debt.
The sound of mocking ridicule, by those who did not know.
The crowd that just became more cruel, letting Barabas go.
From “Hosanna” to “Crucify.” What a change in a week!
He let His silence testify. “I am.” Was His big speech.
The sound of grace-the cracking whip, that tore away His flesh.
He moans and groans along the trip, that led Him to His death.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, of “Father, please forgive.”
As Jesus Christ laid His life down, so you and I might live.
When He cried out, “It is finished!” grace had its perfect work.
His act of love, so unselfish, gave what no one deserves.
These are the sounds of grace till now. But there’s more to come.
The “shout” and then the “trumpet’s sound,” when Jesus takes us home.
Then we’ll shout for joy to see Him and look upon His face.
“Well done, My good and faithful one,” will be our Savior’s words.
And we’ll join in the praises sung, where sounds of grace are heard.
