God at times let you know he has something to say
and it can be, but a simple thing
That he wants to share with me for I'm but a child
and so this is, what he did bring

He took the time, to put this out, before me
do you want to stay in the same grade
Am I open and willing to take what is needed
or do I go, on my own crusade

Now I can balk and fight and just plain refuse
knowing it's a requirement for us all
I can't blame the teacher, for failing the test
and my names not, on any the list they call

This plan is not by man it was already written
his word to study, to help me to pass
So to earn my credits, stop yelling and kicking
just be obedient while in his class

That test and trial your going through at times
just look at it as being a step stool
For God has a plan and purpose, for you and I
so nothings done to make feel like a fool

He is banking on us, for to face each term
to get inside of us, his words of life
Which helps us get through those great barriers
that has, and brings, all sorts of strife

But, that too is a part of our test and trials
things that get next to me and you
And then other times it will be those obstacles
but, his word will always come through

Get out the bible book, and stay in the class
and pull up to the desk with cheer
Break out with a few tunes, to help make it easy
then the score you won't need to fear

Now we students will have, to buckle down in
and take the bitter with the sweet
And just know that is was, all for our good
though it does bring much heat

So in knowing this, that, the flesh must suffer
But, Lord let your purpose work through
And forgive me, when I do stump like a child
for I count it joy, that I belong to you
