KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING:
===================================
Now I want to look at the word momentum, which means, being in step with the Holy Spirit and with each other. Lengthening our stride together to walk in unison in a way that we haven’t walked before. Not breaking rank to run ahead or lag behind but going forth as a team who’s not only in unity but growing in relationship, bearing fruit and increasing in the anointing to show forth Christ to a lost and hurting people without hope. May we, as a part of the loving family of God, finally catch the broader picture of God’s vision for His Church, finally tapping in to the very heart of God and acting on what‘s revealed there.
Joshua and the Israelite children lengthened their stride to step up and step out in bold faith to take, not just any city but a walled city. A fortified city, but they stepped out in obedience to God’s Word. And because they did, the walls of opposition that stood before them as a hindrance fell flat in defeat. One of the key things in this was their unity. Their being in one accord with God and with each other to take from the enemy what they believed was theirs to inherit. We also have an inheritance to take full possession of (Col.1:11-13).
That’s very important for us as the Church today if we expect to see our walls of opposition, individually and corporately come down in defeat. Like the Israelite’s who won a great victory over the enemy because they obeyed God and lengthened their stride, so must we, no matter how strong the city of opposition looks. Even if it looks totally impossible. Don’t forget, you belong to the God of the imppossible who is well able to turn those impossibilities into, not just possibilities but into possessions! Until those walls come down, you’ll keep running up against them and bouncing right back off of them time after time after time getting nowhere fast
Never seeming to make progress in your spiritual life, although you say, I‘m trying to. God doesn’t want us to just try to obey Him when He gives us a Word, no more than we want our children to try when we give them a job assignment. We want our child, regardless of age, to go on and do what's being asked of them without argument or excuse. If we feel this way about our natural children, so does God in regards to His children. God see’s us as a success already and He wants us to know the reality of this success in Him in our daily lives.
A person who says, “I’m trying,” is a person who’s really saying, “I’ll do it Lord as long as it doesn’t cost me anything.” This is a person who’s uncommitted to do the will of God but who is committed to do their own will. This person is not totally committed in their faith and their walk with the Lord. By using this worn out phrase, “I’m trying” it is to leave yourself a loop-hole to escape through the moment the Holy Spirit turns up the heat of the refining fire on your character a little. God has never asked us from anywhere in His written Logos Word of by His Rhema Word, to try to do anything. He’s plainly said, “Be ye doer’s of the Word and not hearer’s only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22).
A person, who constantly uses the excuse, “I’m trying to do this or that” is a person who has deceived themselves into believing they’re doing something when the truth is, they’re doing nothing. Even the mother of Jesus knew that He is absolute for He said, “Let your yes be yes and your no be no, anything more is to speak evil.” That’s sounds absolute to me. How about you? Jesus hasn’t ever asked any of us to do anything that He first hasn’t done Himself as He committed His way and will to the Father. He showed us the way to walk in righteousness and to be holy, as God is holy. At the wedding feast at Cana, the mother of Jesus told the servants, “Whatever He tells you to do, do it!” Jesus then told them to fill up six water pots with water. Were they obedient? Yes, they were and He turned the water into wine.
Because they committed themselves, they were blessed by being a part of the miracle, which is what Jesus wanted all along. He wants his body to be a part of His miracles today but commitment is the key in the trying to do what Jesus has said do. You’re committed to do something you haven’t done before, trusting that as you try out this new step of faith, the anointing---God’s SUPER will come upon your natural and will empower you to fulfill the command. It’s all by His grace. We have to have God’s moment to moment grace in and upon our lives.
Still, there are many of God’s people who have been experiencing this running up against the same walls, bouncing off of them over and over again and seeing very little victory in their lives. But take heart today and be encouraged because God is calling us to do a new thing---to walk a new way that we haven’t walked before. To go places that we’ve never been before and to do things we’ve never done before. Yes, that's a big challenge but God is a big loving God and He knows how to get us to where we’re going if we’ll just say, “Okay. I can do that” and then step up and step out in faith to do it.
When you do, His SUPER (anointing) will come on your natural (ability) to help you do SUPERnaturally what you can’t do by yourself (Phil.4:13). Thus, we can do mighty exploits for God as a body of believers in loving relationship and in unity, making a difference in our homes, our towns, our cities and the world. Remember that we don’t get here to this place by trying without commitment. As a body and as individual’s, we win the victory in our homes, our families, our businesses, etc. because we’re committed individually and corporately to the cause of Christ. Not our own cause. And through unity of the Spirit, we’re made even more aware to keep the momentum going.
In the natural, soldiers are not allowed to march across a bridge because of the momentum of their stride and the unity of their steps. It puts such a stress on the foundational structure of the bridge that it will literally crumble. In the body today, you find a lot of people doing a lot of stepping but their walk is taking them every which way but the way God is trying to get them to walk. When you do this, you’re just expending needless energy and time if you spend it walking any other way but God’s way. We become a body that’s divided. A body that is seeing very little evidence of breakthrough’s in the lives of its people.
Amos 3:3 says, “Can Two walk together except they be agreed?” You won’t be in unity if you‘re not first of all in agreement with the Word and the Spirit then with each other. If this is not in place first, there will be no momentum because you will be divided and going in opposite directions. If the Church isn’t walking in love and agreement (unity), what do you have? A (church) split. You have division and confusion, both of which God is not the author of. Satan is the author of division and confusion and every evil work. God is Jehovah-Shalom, the God of peace.

CONCLUSION:
==========================
The Holy Spirit spoke to me on July 1, 2002 and said, “Lengthen your stride.” I believe it was that night when I checked my e-mail on the Internet and found a prophecy from Chuck Pierce in my box. I’m on his mailing list and Chuck is a credible prophet of God to the body of Christ who has a proven track record for accuracy. I want to quote the first paragraph of his prophetic word to you.
Are you ready to Lengthen Your Stride and begin taking those giant steps of faith? To walk in a way that you haven’t before to come into that new place where God has prepared and ordained that you should walk? If you answered yes, then what are you waiting for? Become a committed doer of the word of the Lord. See yourself taking giant steps of faith in your study and prayer time, doing those things that you already know God has told you to do. Going where He’s already told you to go.
Set your face like flint to press on through and get past that wall of opposition. And don’t be like Lot’s wife who had to have one more peek at the past, leave what’s past behind you without looking back one more time and go on, allowing nothing to break your stride. And by all means, keep the momentum going.

WHAT IT TAKES:
=========================
1-We want to continue developing a ‘ear’ to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. It’s important to recognize the voice we’re hearing, lest it be the voice of the enemy or our own reasoning. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me” (John 11:27).
2-This development doesn’t come except by the Word of God. Through prayer and worship and most important---through listening for that still small voice.
3-Through obedience. And through faith that comes by the Word. By being a doer of the Word, Logos and Rhema and not being just a hearer only, deceiving your own selves.
4-Through walking in love and humility toward other’s to fulfill the commandment of Jesus, “Love one another, even as I have loved you” (John 15:12)
5-And through repentance, the “clean heart” principle, being forgiven and cleaned by the blood of Jesus. Being quick to repent when the Holy Spirit brings conviction to your heart about anything concerning your walk with Him.
We must follow the example of David who was a man after God’s own heart who cried out from the very depths of his soul and said, “O God, create in me a clean heart, and renew in me a right spirit (heart attitude)” (Psalm 50:10).
