When he comes will he find us in peace
and loving one another
Or will he find us, fussing and fighting
and finding fault, in each other

Will he be pleased with our works
and saw that we gave our best
Or will he drop his head and turn away
and say, we have blown each test

Of all the times we had the chance
to treat each other right
Day in and day out, we knew the route
even though that it was tight

We knew the path was a narrow way
no detours were on this flight
If he said that we had to love everybody
and to do it with all our might

There was no picking to choose who we want
respect of person's was not the way
The blueprint was written, for our learning
and to practice it, each coming day

Will he say to us, oh servants well done
you did keep your heart swept clean
Or will he have to say to us, depart from me
for you let it become cold and mean

He's on his way back, and that's no lie
rather we, be ready or not
And whatever's not right, that's just too bad
we had time, to work on each spot
