natty attire, just so,
sharing a moment with you
in passing the peace
a bit of Christ, love,
in your lasting handshake
in the “thank you” you gave
a special sense of grace
in feeling your embrace

Albert Pershing Leavitt, 91, of Concord, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at his daughter's home in Bow.
Born in Danvers, Mass., he was the son of Herbert and Georgia (Phelps) Leavitt.
He was a graduate of Towle High School in Newport, Class of 1939. Albert served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Leavitt worked as a cartographer for the State of New Hampshire beginning in 1945 with the Highway Department. He went on to work for the Department of Resources and Economic Development, retiring after 35 years in 1980.
He was a founding member of the Pioneer Sportsman Club in Dunbarton. He was a member of the Granite State Wood Carvers. He was also a 50 year member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Concord, where he was also a member of the Men's Club and board of trustees. Albert was a 50-year member of Blazing Star Eureka Lodge 11 F&AM in Concord.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Buxton) Leavitt in 2000; his son, Gary W. Leavitt in 2003; and by his brother, Merton Leavitt in 1994.
Survivors include his son, Stephen E. Leavitt and his wife, Janet, of Concord; his daughter, Susan D. Lindquist and her husband, Allen, of Bow; his daughter-in-law, Colette L. Leavitt of Bow; three brothers, Arthur Leavitt of Newport, Herbert Leavitt of Claremont and Walter Leavitt of Arkansas; two sisters, Dorothy Hamel of Claremont and Margaret Quigley of Agawam, Mass.; four grandchildren, Christopher Lindquist and his wife, Desiree, of Dunbarton, Kevin Lindquist of Concord, Corey Breen of Concord and Hannah Leavitt of Concord; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 79 Clinton St., Concord.
Burial will be held in the spring at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
