When a desire is met in your life, who takes the praise? Who do you give glory to for the situations of your life?
Some give glory to men. They forget that men are only vessels used by God to minister to them. Other praise one idol or the other and make sacrifices to them, thinking that it is these idols that are meeting their needs.

This is the same error the people of Israel fell into when they were on their journey from Egypt to Canaan. They looked unto Moses to meet their needs. They thought it was him who parted red sea, gave them water from the rock, fed them with manna, pulled down Jericho wall, conquered nations for them. They thought Moses was their God.

AND WHEN THEY CAME TO MARAH, THEY COULD NOT DRINK OF THE WATERS OF MARAH, FOR THEY WERE BITTER: THEREFORE THE NAME OF IT WAS CALLED MARAH. AND THE PEOPLE MURMURED AGAINST MOSES, SAYING, WHAT SHALL WE DRINK? Exodus 15:23-24

When Moses went up to Mount Sinai and did not return when they expected him, they made a golden calf and gave glory to it as a god.

AND WHEN THE PEOPLE SAW THAT MOSES DELAYED TO COME DOWN OUT OF THE MOUNT, THE PEOPLE GATHERED THEMSELVES TOGETHER UNTO AARON, AND SAID UNTO HIM, UP, MAKE US gods, WHICH SHALL GO BEFORE US; FOR AS FOR THIS MOSES, THE MAN THAT BROUGHT US UP OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT, WE WOT NOT WHAT IS BECOME OF HIM. AND AARON SAID UNTO THEM, BREAK OFF THE GOLDEN EARRINGS, WHICH ARE IN THE EARS OF YOUR WIVES, OF YOUR SONS, AND OF YOUR DAUGHTERS, AND BRING THEM UNTO ME. AND ALL THE PEOPLE BRAKE OFF THE GOLDEN EARRINGS WHICH WERE IN THEIR EARS, AND BROUGHT THEM UNTO AARON. AND HE RECEIVED THEM AT THEIR HAND, AND FASHIONED IT WITH A GRAVING TOOL, AFTER HE HAD MADE IT A MOLTEN CALF: AND THEY SAID, THESE BE THY GODS, O ISRAEL, WHICH BROUGHT THEE UP OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT. AND WHEN AARON SAW IT, HE BUILT AN ALTAR BEFORE IT; AND AARON MADE PROCLAMATION, AND SAID, TO MORROW IS A FEAST TO THE LORD. AND THEY ROSE UP EARLY ON THE MORROW, AND OFFERED BURNT OFFERINGS, AND BROUGHT PEACE OFFERINGS; AND THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND TO DRINK, AND ROSE UP TO PLAY. Exodus 32:1-6.

They made the greatest mistake people are making today. They were worshipping idol instead of God. Think about it. What is that thing you are praising and honouring instead of giving glory to God? God will never share His glory with any man. Neither will He allow any man or idol take His position.

If you are in the same situation like the Israelites of those days, it is time you stop giving glory and praise to your local idols, family gods, mermaid, and the likes.

GIVE ALL GLORY TO GOD FOR EVERY SITUATION IN YOUR LIFE.
