PICTURE THIS

You came into my life, like a raging storm
I felt the rise and fall of the waves
When the dawn broke, the seas calmed
I turned around, you were gone

Memories haunt me, chill me to the bone
Pain and loss live side by side in my heart
They have become all that I know
They're trying to take up permanent residency there
Claiming what they think is theirs
My name is on the lease
Hearts not for sale
Soul ownership is mine

Time for the next episode to begin
In this show of life
The script is still being written
Cast and crew waiting in the wings

No need for spoiler alerts
The plot cannot be revealed
Will it be a Hollywood ending?
Happily ever after, forevermore

It's far too soon to tell
Keep turning the page
The story will play itself out
All in due time

One thing is for certain, life is a crescendo of emotions
In the blink of an eye you may be humbled
The next moment, sheer and utter joy

Each day is a blank canvas, waiting to be drawn
The colours of life surround us, vibrant, real and alive
Will you choose to live defeated, shades of gray all around
Picture yourself triumphant, with both feet firmly on the ground.
