God Always Sends The Best

Karen Draper was working at the Wrangler Garment Plant in Seminole, Oklahoma when she received a telephone call that her young daughter, Trisha, was very sick with a temperature of 102 degrees. Within minutes of receiving the telephone call, Karen was given permission to leave the garment plant to go tend to her daughter. Before going to pick up Trisha, Karen stopped by the Wal-Mart pharmacy to get several medications for her daughter. When she returned to her car, she found that she inadvertently locked all of her key in her car. She was in such a hurry to get her sick daughter from daycare and quickly get her home. Stunned and confused, Karen didn’t know what to do so she called the daycare and told a worker what had happen.

The daycare worker told Karen that Trisha’s condition seemed to be getting worse. The worker suggested using a coat hanger to open her car door. Karen looked around then saw a bent up coat hanger stuck on the sliding door of a dumpster. She ran over to the dumpster, pulled the old rusty hanger from the trash and returned to her car. Karen looked at the hanger and said: “What do I do? I don’t know how to raise this thing!”

Trembling with increasing fright, Karen rested her head on the hood of the car and prayed: “Almighty Father, help me! Please send me help. Please, Father, Please!” Within roughly two minutes of her prayer, an old man in beat up, holey shoes, a six-inch or more blank and white beard in dirty, old, smelly clothes appeared to offer her assistance.

“Oh, my! Lord is this who you sent here to help me out?” Now very desperate, Karen thanked God for the old man.

Seeing her concern, the old man put the bag he carried on the hood of her car and asked if he could help her.

Karen responded: “It’s here to get her some medicines. But when I got out of my car and went into Wal-Mart, I forgot to take my keys with me. Now they are locked in the car. Please, can you get my car door unlocked?”

The old man said: “Yeah, I can git it open.” He picked up the old hanger bent it so that it could fit through the narrow space between the door and the car body. Within a second, the door was opened. Thankful the door was opened, Karen, through her tears hugged the old man and said: “Thank you so much! You are a good man!”

The old man responded, “I rather doubt that young lady. I’ve been in prison for burglary, money laundering and safe cracking for much of my life. I left the prison in Boley, Oklahoma only three hours ago.

Karen hugged the old man once again, now crying with joy—Thank you God for sending me the very best!”
