In the beginning, when all was still clean,
The food, the water, the air that was seen-

A farmers delight of seed that were sown,
to yield a cope of numbers unknown-

All at the mercy of seasons and rain,
Chance taken of loss or abundance of gain-

Rituals, feasts and holidays began,
celebrating the fuel created for man-

Across the oceans, used for fair trade,
combining the seeds, new species were made-

Machinery, pesticides, irrigation on demand,
made up a prosperous and fruitful land-

Mass production of food, more to be sold,
add preservatives to keep from growing old -

Chemicals and fillers altered for taste,
unused by the body, considered as waste-

A build up of toxins sweeping the land,
looking for relief in a medicine brand -

Just starting to realize we may have a cure,
by returning to foods considered as pure-

Whole foods are complete we've finally seen,
Like in the beginning when all was still clean.
