I recently had a rough night. It’s not the first time but each rough moment increases in intensity and dares to claim my sanity. The grips of negative thinking has robbed me of my joy, but I choose to steal it back, to fight with wearied body, but a clearer mind.

Are negative thoughts robbing you of your joy?

Today, I’m a gardener. I’m removing the weeds of failure, impossibilities, rejection and… the list is extensive. The palm of my hands turns a light shade of red. They are buried way too deep.

Take the time today to get rid of your weeds.

Certain difficult moments are there to help us get rid of our gods; the ones we run to in times of need— the pills, the drinks, the drugs, or the people we turn to. I’m getting rid of my gods. My heart’s throne is now empty and it craves a different god; the One True God. He whispers to me the words that my heart needs.

Not long ago Isaiah 55 was the passage He used to speak to me.

3“Give ear to me and come to me; hear me that your soul may live. I will make a covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David 5.Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations that do not know you will hasten to you, because of the Lord your God, the Holy one of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor.”

The phrase for he has endowed you with splendor, did it for me. I wept beautifully. But it doesn’t end there.

8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord 10, 11. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. 13 This will be for the Lord’s renown.

I got so caught up that I started praying: Whatever you have spoken in behalf Father, I know it will come true because every word that comes out of your mouth achieves the purpose for which you have sent it. Hell has lost the war; you have given the enemy a certificate of divorce in my behalf and you have betrothed me to yourself.
I released everything I could think of and asked the lover of my soul to fill my heart with His love. I asked him to help me to see those that have hurt me the way he sees them and I started to bless them. I had a blast that day!

The love we all seek doesn’t come from the presence or statement of others, but from the love of God that surrounds us and wishes to win our hearts.

My heart has been claimed.

We are all being wooed, but the sound can be so faint for one who is barely listening.

Some hide their hearts when they get hurt—such a destructive mechanism.
The love of God can’t reach, His words can’t penetrate. The best way to handle a broken heart is to go to God and weep before Him. Seriously?! Seriously.
Say something like: Father, I’ve been hurt and before I can say anything else I just want to release it in your presence. Then, forgive yourself and the person—more for your sake than theirs. Are they worth you missing out on the love and blessing God wants to lavish on you? Then let go (get angry for ½ a second if you must) but let go quickly for hurt is one of the tactics the enemy uses to block our blessings.

One prayer that I use when I feel I’m harboring certain negative feelings is from Prayers that Rout Demons by John Eckardt , it says: I command all spirits of hurt, rejection, fear, anger, wrath, sadness, depression, discouragement, grief, bitterness, and unforgiveness to come out of my emotions in the name of Jesus. Sometimes I simply say: I release any hurt, anger, rejection… or I say: Father I placed them at your feet.

Holding on to any of these can cause us not to be able to talk to God. I remember one time it was not until after I prayed that prayer that I was able to truly communicate with God!

Don’t let the enemy steal your blessings, let go of whatever you’re holding on to NOW.

Heavenly Father,

I want to give you my heart. It’s broken, battered, misused and even ugly.
Cleanse my heart Father so that there isn’t anything that separates us.
I release my anger, bitterness, rejection, sadness, unforgiveness. I placed them at your feet. Father, help me to be whole. Amen.


You are His renown and He has clothed you with splendor!
