Imagine what it would be like to celebrate Holy Week and Easter in Jerusalem.
Have you ever wondered the depth of the emotions you would feel if you were to read the passage from Mathew 26: "And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread and blessed and broke and gave to his disciples and said: Take and eat. This is my body. And taking the chalice, he gave thanks and gave to them, saying: Drink all of this. For this is my blood…" while standing in the Cenacle (Upper Room)?
What would it be like to stand at the very site Jesus went to on the night of his arrest? “Then Jesus came with them into a country place which is called Gethsemani. And he said to his disciples: Sit you here, till I go yonder and pray." (Mathew 26: 36)?
Pilgrims often describe walking the Via Dolorosa as the highlight of their pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Step by step, station by station, you travel the path walked by Jesus to Calvary: "And when they had come to the place which is called Calvary, they crucified him there: and the robbers, one on the right hand, and the other on the left" (Luke 23:33). Then you can touch the Stone of Anointing, where according to tradition, "They took therefore the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths, with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury." (John 19:40), and then you are in front of the empty Tomb. You are inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the place that pilgrims recognize as a great privilege to visit, a true life-changing experience.

Believers who have experienced a Holy Land pilgrimage consistently emphasize that the intensity of their emotions while walking the path walked by Jesus is too powerful for words. This is a very personal experience and it can be yours if you choose to come to Jerusalem at Easter time.
