"If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all" (Mark 9:35).
To be an inspirational leader for the good of all, you must be a servant of all. The inspiring persona and actions of a servant leader, can lead to a transformation of a culture, nation, and the world when the right situation arises. Ultimately, the power of the servant leader comes from the willingness of the people he or she serves to follow their lead. Without that willingness, it is futile for the leader to be in that position of authority. The servant leader must care for the followers as he or she cares for their own self. This is the only way to truly care enough about the plight of the people, and enact righteous action to lift them up to a positive, sustainable lifestyle.
Why do followers so freely give that support and power to a servant leader? The reason is ageless in need and desire of all people. People desperately seek to feel secure in their lives and surroundings. To feel at peace in life with their disposition is a goal of all, no matter what position they may find themselves in. That is why a servant leader will always find support when they lead justly and wisely. The servant leader’s style of leading will fill the people with a peace of mind because; the people know the leader will put their interests first in all matters. That is a feeling that will resonate into all facets of the people’s lives and lead to harmony in the community, society, and the nation in which servant first attitude reigns.
The servant first mindset will trickle down righteously from the leader into the very fabric of the culture. That is when true cultural change can take place and peace will become a reality not just a dream. A reality, that starts by a leader choosing the destiny of his or her followers, in the decision to serve first. Imagine the possibilities of honest and pure loving relationships, built on the foundation of serving family, neighbor, or enemy first. The result will be families, communities, nations united in the common purpose; to succeed at all endeavors for the welfare of all. That is the express purpose of a servant leader, to tell the world “follow me!” By leading from the front, the servant leader will transform generations physically, mentally, and spiritually to live for the good of other’s first. Servant leadership is exactly what we as a community, nation, and world need to adopt for the global success of the future. By doing so, lives will be changed for the better, now and for many generation to come. It is a conscious choice every leader must wholeheartedly seek, accept, and sincerely pursue to the utmost of his or her ability, to further the cause of prosperity of the less fortunate. Peace, happiness, and tranquility will flow throughout all nations and lead to a promise of blissful living for all. That is the ultimate goal of a servant leader, to inspire in such a way, that the example provided, ignites a positive transformation to lift up all people, regardless of race, nation, or sex.
