Things Christians Should Know

I was once asked by a youngster how I managed to know so many things. Presumably the youngster was being kind, for he could have taken a good look, blinked his eyes a few times and then nonchalantly declared, "Easy for you, after all you were friends of Noah." Old age, after all is said and done, is the most just reward for surviving. But he didn't. And I am.

Life is a journey more than anything else and the further along you travel the more knowledge you come by; a lot of it is useless junk for sure but also some useful stuff. If you are acquainted with my biography you would know that I've travelled some and along the way I've stored some stuff in the attic and thought you might like to look in a few boxes.

The plain truth is that we seem to be hard-wired to know little of what we need to know and too much of useless junk in much the same way that junk food is tasty, often delicious and proper food is not, often bland. In this short series of books I try to throw light on some things that Christians really need to know in order to maintain good, spiritual health and a balanced approach to the many conundrums in which he will find himself.

The books deal, fairly profoundly, with topics that you would have heard discussed and you would like some additional information on, or the topic might have crossed your mind but you never found time to delve into the matter to any extent. Like most of us, your hectic lifestyle might have forced you to choose other priorities and you just can't find the time. Here the topics are very contemporary, assumes no foreknowledge of the subject and takes you effortlessly into its heart without resorting to complex theology.

I have written a fair amount on these topics for this website and elsewhere and if you read my stuff you would be in possession of a range of topics including God cannot be tempted , Much wealth is more burdensome that great poverty, God can always do what the believer requests but chooses not to, God cannot be assessed by human cognitive tools and Much wealth is more burdensome that great poverty. It is always refreshing to revisit themes like Moses' Law and Christian observance as well as how leadership is coping with their responsibilities. Another subject of immense importance for believers is our attitude to the world. Should we indulge ourselves and to what extent? What things are wholesome and what are harmful? Are leisure pursuits necessarily a good thing?

All these topics as well as new ones are brought together in these volumes so that you might have them to hand for easy reference whenever you need them. These volumes, along with the other volumes in the series STAND UP TO THE DEVIL, continue to throw light on a range of critical topics, and furnish a Christian perspective that is so necessary today in an extremely secular and ever growing post-Christian society.

Often you might not be aware of the things you need to know until, perhaps inadvertently, you stumble across them. The most common reaction is, "Wow, I wished that I had known that before." This series of books will, hopefully, fill in some gaps in your journey as you travel along the gospel highway and hopefully make your journey of faith more beautiful.
