You are great folks of such faith and renown. You all deserve a nice night on the town.

You've been around for a very long time, But there are mountains for you still to climb.

Your body is weary, your hair has turned gray, But there is much wisdom in all that you say.

You've worked very hard for all of your life. You've been through despair, through sickness and strife.

Many of you all, have stories to tell. And not only that, you tell them so well.

You've done many jobs, have raised families. You've been through hard times, and prayed on your knees.

When you are speaking we need to give ear. Your wealth of knowledge we all need to hear.

Thank you for being the people you are. You've been through so much and you've travelled so far.

Thank you for laughter, for hope and good cheer. Thanks for the things that you all hold so dear.

Thanks for the memories of good times and bad. Thanks for the lessons of life you've all had.

You've helped us learn how to play and have fun. You've helped us to think, and to walk and run.

So all you dear seniors; go and have fun. You've been our example; your work is done.

(My new motivational book entitled "Seniors: Are You Retiring Or Recharging?" can now be ordered from amazon, trafford.com/bookstore, or simply by googiing the title.)

Here is an exceprt from it. "Maximize your life to finish strong in your retirement years. Don't let anything stop you. Keep moving forward. Make a list of everything you can see yourself doing...List things that will utilize your gifts and passions. A 20-30 goal is where you see yourself at that time. You have the end in view. There may be a huge gap between where you are now and where you could be later. Spend the next couple of decades working to close that gap. These can be the best years of your life."

I have heard the phrase so often - THE SENIOR YEARS are the GOLDEN YEARS. I believe that only applies if those are spent in vital connection with God's continuing will for your life. Your poem was outstanding and captured how seniors need to keep moving forward to that time when they know that God is ready to accept them into His presence.

As I belong in this category, with two grown up sons working as responsible citizens for the common good, I fully endorse every single line in your poem, my friend!

I have been a member of Faith Writers for a couple of years, I only enter the contest when the word or phrase is something I can relate too.
Was just seeing I can also just publish articles too, looked at the most viewed and found your delightful poem.
I can relate I am a senior, but a late blooming one in the Lord.
I am writing a memoir, but have hit some hard times and am now getting back to it.
I have so much to learn about editing and publishing.
Bless you
