Locked in an inner battle with my soul
There are walls closing in all around me
Must I let go of something so grand
Good reason I failed to see

I feel a host on either side
A battle is certainly brewing
Why should I choose, how can I decide
The pain in my heart’s now growing

An empty heart, a groping soul
I know I must do right
My thoughts now shifts, I’m so confused
Weakness is mankind’s plight

You are so far away, I shook my head
And willed myself to fight
He’s just not there, I am on my own
I guess that’s heavens right

Opportunity says my future’s set
The tempter presents the prize
You will now have of all you’ve dreamed
And a flicker lights my eyes

Today’s the day and my resolve is strong
As I let decision brake me
The Father stands. No turning back
My conscience now consoles me

The relief I feel as I walk away
And with hands and heart closed that door
And heaven smiled along with me
Another long fought battle is o’er
