Jesus’ Teaching Ministry (Part 2)

Hi beloved in Christ Jesus, I’m grateful to God always for an opportunity to serve Him by sharing His word with His servants. We started sharing Jesus’ Teaching Ministry with an introduction that clearly tells us that we must grow spiritually into the full measure of Jesus Christ in ALL THINGS said Paul in (Eph.4:11-15).

Then we shared how Jesus commissioned His disciples to go into all nations making disciples baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them to observe ALL THINGS that Jesus had taught them (Matt.28:19-20).

Get the Point

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand what Paul and Jesus said. It’s very clear to a smarter than a fifth grader student. However, an indoctrinated deacon, Pastor or religious leader may say that I’m nuts and may have trouble receiving clear scripture.

Anyway, the intent is to awake to the high calling that God has for us in Christ Jesus and do not accept to remain the same year after year. I’m so sadden by Christians who’ve been in church 25 years and they never grow in their walk with God. It’s a shame because they don’t read the word for themselves and catch a revelation that we must grow up in Christ to His full measure and statured.

This is not Paul’s idea or mines. Jesus said this to His disciples first in Matthew 28:19-20. Then by revelation Paul explained that Jesus gave gifts and the purpose of those gifts (the 5 mentioned in Ephesians 4:11-15), is to train believers to grow into the full measure of Jesus Christ in ALL THINGS. This includes Jesus’ Teaching Ministry. We must be powerful teachers like Christ.

Secondly, we need to follow Jesus and respect other believers who don’t wish to grow to become like Jesus in His measure of being a powerful teacher. Don’t allow your Pastor, Deacon or Bishop keep you from growing if they don’t believe what Paul and Jesus said.

Quietly grow and don’t stop God will use you outside of the church walls to minister and teach if your leaders begin to fight you because God is granting you more revelation then what they have.

Revelation of a Powerful Teacher

Jesus granted me a vision in 1993, I saw Him, Peter, and John they were sitting on a bench discussing the ministry and Jesus clearly told them what they needed to do and then He left. I was amazed to even be privileged to be there.

Jesus granted me a second vision in 1994, I saw Him teach 2000 years ago to people in that time and the people around Him changed to the people of today with the fashion that we currently have.

In both visions I was later given more clarity by meditation and prayer, and by an audible voice of the Holy Spirit that gave me a lot of understanding I didn’t quite have when I initially experienced the visions.

Here’s the simple understanding of these visions.

1. Teach like Jesus taught.

2. There’s no difference between the people of yesterday and the people of today.

3. When you need biblical advice, go to Jesus and He will give it to you.

Yeah brother, but you got the vision not me. Yes, but you don’t need a vision you have the word that says you must grow up into Him (Jesus) in ALL THINGS. I had a lot of visions and dreams but 75% of my growth came from scripture I had to go to scripture to find the meaning of the visions (HELLO). We are not to accept any vision that doesn’t line up with the word. In my previous articles I shared more about those visions and what the word has to say in parallel to those visions.

Teaching Like Jesus- The Sermon on the Mount

For six months in 1993, I was given Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7 to read. Step by step I was trained to make the changes in my life to live in accordance to the principles Jesus taught. The hardest for me was to forgive my enemies.

In March 1994, when Jesus anointed me to be a bible teacher after the vision I received. Jesus said in an audible voice teach like I taught as I read Matthew 5, 6, and 7. Jesus said you see how I taught? I taught 19 topics on the Sermon on the Mount. Then I thought how many topics do they teach on Sunday? Pastors have a lot of catching up to do if they want to teach like you. If you have a study bible they usually categorize the 19 topics in Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7.

The Experience of teaching more than One Topic

A month ago I was in Little Italy in NYC Manhattan in a park on Spring st. and Mulberry st. I was sharing a bench with an older Italian woman and her 24 year old daughter on my lunch break. I introduced myself and we began sharing a little about one another. Then they realized I was a Christian then God used me to minister to them from 7pm-10pm. (Thank God I did all my work I just had to finish the last hour at my job).

They asked me so many biblical questions and I answered them all it was like Jesus with the Sermon on the Mount because I had to teach them bite size, fast-track teachings to get them out of doubt, confusion, bitterness they had against a woman Pastor who is financially greedy and so much more.

Then I talked about many topics-relationships, born-again, idols, Pastors ministry, tithes, open financial report policy some churches have, love, forgiveness, baptisms all 4 mentioned in the New Testament, healing, hell, dreams, visions and more… What’s the point?

If we are ever going to make it as powerful bible teachers we better study and be ready to preach in season and out of season (2 Tim.4:2). After that I prayed with the woman and told her to visit the faith-writers for more. Every now and then I see her and she’s much better Praise God.


The Sermon on the Mount Outlined

Jesus taught 19 topics in the Sermon on the Mount. Some scholars say that it probably took a few days to preach and teach all that He shared. Although scriptures do not support that opinion and based on what happened to me not only in Little Italy but several times, I believe we can teach about 10 or more topics to any amount of people in one sermon at any given time. The reason for pointing this out is because we cannot limit God.

Some Pastors have attended Bible College and they were instructed by a professor to limit their Sermons to a 4 point message. Well, the Holy Spirit never taught or led Jesus to do that. So who should we listen too? I’m going to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit because He knows what that person needs more than I do, even if it’s a group of people.

Common biblical sense will tell us that if Jesus taught to about 1000 people during this Sermon on the Mount. It hit home with everyone because not everyone is going thru the things that others are going thru-so there was a message tailored by the Holy Spirit that fed everybody.

Let me be clear with balance if we were led to rent a place with a scheduled time slot then The Spirit of God would work within that rented time slot. But if we are out in the open with no restrictions then it’s a different spiritual ball-game we have all the time in the world.

Let’s outline the Sermon;

1. The Beatitudes-code of ethics, standard of Christian living Matt.5:3-11
2. Salt & Light-having flavor, preserving the people with the word and shining our light v.13-16
3. About the law-spiritual applications of it v.17-20
4. About anger-it’ll affect us more than who we are angry toward v.21-26
5. About lust-the inner process of it before actually doing it physically v.27-30
6. About divorce-only for marital unfaithfulness can we divorce v.31-32
7. About vows-don’t swear anymore say yes or no v.33-37
8. About retaliation-slap both sides of my cheek and go the extra mile v.38-42
9. About loving your enemies and praying for the haters & despisers v.43-48
10. Giving to the needy Matt.6:1-4
11. About prayer-short & sweet/ not hypocritical like religious people do it v.5-15
12. About fasting-don’t be hypocritical & look presentable as if you weren’t fasting v.16-18
13. About money- do not hoard it/ accumulate toys with it v.19-24
14. About worry-being overly obsessive with material thinking God will provide v.25-34
15. About negative criticism-take out the beam in your eye to see the speck in someone else Matt.7:1-6
16. About asking, seeking & knocking- for opportunities to open up v.7-12
17. The way to heaven –it’s very narrow v.13-14
18. Fruit in people’s lives- their character will declare if they are saved or lost v.15-20
19. Those who build houses on solid foundations or on sand v.21-27
20. Jesus taught with authority not like the religious 4 point messages v.28-29

Greater Teaching Abilities

I like to test things out. So after reading Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7 hundreds of times, I was able to quote all three chapters word for word in less than an hour. I’m not bragging I wanted to see how long it would take. So I cannot agree with theologians that Jesus took several days to teach all these topics.

Besides, they didn’t have church services for 2 hours but a preaching message for 15 minutes back then. If you are an anointed teacher people will be hungry and attentive more than staring at their watches waiting for you to finish.

Secondly, when you are anointed by the Holy Spirit you are able to speak every effectively and if you are knowledgeable in scripture you can flow with any amount of topics and not miss a beat or bore anyone. I wish I had video-taped the event with the Italian woman so you can see what I’m talking about and confirm that it is possible to teach at length as the Spirit of God leads you.

Jesus’ Teaching Techniques

1. Jesus taught with authority of the Holy Spirit Matt.7:28-29. This is important because we must be prayed up and fasting to flow with the Holy Spirit and be sensitive to hear His voice as we speak. As I type right now I hear the Holy Spirit leading me what to type with my personal lingo.

2. The Beatitudes is like prophesying in a sense because it’s all encouraging, comforting and edifying when you hear it. They really build you up spiritually. We can memorize them and whenever the Holy Spirit decides to inject these verses into our hearts when we are speaking go ahead and prophesy.

3. Connecting the dots- Jesus knew how to take Old Testament scripture and bring it alive and practical for Christian application. We need to learn how to do the same.

4. Bite-size is a modern day catch phrase we use to indicate short and sweet at the right time teaching. Jesus did not exhaust any topic. He only shared what the Holy Spirit gave Him at that moment to say to reach the people with clear and pure doctrine that the religious leaders couldn’t explain without being boring or unclear. So topics like-anger, lust, divorce, vows, prayer, fasting, money, worry, were all taught to the point of the need that they had at that time.

5. Teaching jewels are to be shared with humble and receptive people not pigs. It’s important that we be sensitive to the Holy Spirit to share the amount of spiritual information that He desires us to teach and not over do it. Jesus told His disciples at one point that there’s more He would like to say but they couldn’t bare it at the moment (See John 16:12)

6. Jesus taught more practically than theologically. Jesus said you heard that it been said…,but I say unto you…, then He explained the practicality of the principle that made the people see how they may live it out-instead of talking about it.
